RE: MinimServer 0.8.1 is now available
Hello Simon,
I have uploaded sample files to your FTP (directory with my name). Remarks: 1 - Both Alison Moyet and Earth, Wind & Fire get indexed by Minimserver and are playable thru my Akurate DS. They were placed on my NAS in november 2012. They have been indexed by previous versions of Minimserver. 2 - Chopin is not indexed and not playable. 3 - Nino Rota has been placed on my NAS today (dec-28) and are not indexed and not playable. I have never before received these error messages, so I'm guessing there is a bug in Minimserver ? Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks again ! Willem |

I have verified that the AlbumArtist conflict messages from the other two files (Alison Moyet and Earth, Wind & Fire) are produced by MinimServer 0.72 as well as MinimServer 0.8.1. You are getting these messages because MinimServer is not able to handle multiple AlbumArtist values for different tracks in the same album. |

RE: MinimServer 0.8.1 is now available
Hi Simon!
I thought I'd chime in with my experiences installing mininimserver 0.8.1 on my (fully patched and standard) DS-412+ (dual core atom). Just to remind - my experience with 0.7.2 was rock solid - it worked great. I really appreciate the architectural changes you've made - modularity, the plugin architecture, upnp search sounds great, although I've noticed no difference with Lumin control point towards Linn ADS, the ability to check on minim status and force a rescan via a web interface (as opposed to using minimwatch) First of all - installation did not proceed as expected, I wasn't able to upgrade my installation with 0.7.2 running - I got the message that the port 9790 was occupied, despite waiting and even rebooting my DS. I had to stop the 0.7.2 to be able to upload the 0.8.1. Luckily it preserved all settings, so that was fine. Just FYI My major issue is that minimserver seems to crash, daily... I get the java out of bonds exception, usually after the server has been up 5-6 hours. I still restart it daily (echo restart > /volume1/@tmp/minimstdinpipe <- is it still recommended), but it usually crashes in the evening, before I've had the chance to listen to music, so I've reverted back to Synology's own, native upnp server.. The other issue I'm experiencing is that the accompanying minimwatch crashes as well on my macbook pro, running mavericks, fully patched. It looks itself up as well, after a while, which makes it impossible to get a screenshot of the exact error message.. Is it just a mirror of the minimserver installation, so when it locks, the minimwatch locks as well? Or is is an issue related to the latest java installation, 1.7? Anyway, I know you're on (well deserved) holiday, and I have no doubt those problems will be resolved, so I am pretty relaxed about the whole issue, just thought I'd report on these niggling problems.. |

Please post the exact wording of the exception you are getting, together with the complete Java stack trace. You should be able to find this information in a crash log file in the /volume1/homes/minimserver/appData folder, which is visible in File Station. After this happens, is there any error information in the file /Users/<your-user-name>/Library/MinimWatch/minimwatch.log or are there any crash log files in the /Users/<your-user-name>/Library/MinimWatch folder? (Note: The /Users/<your-user-name>/Library folder is hidden by the Finder, so you need to use "Go to folder" to see this folder.) RE: MinimServer 0.8.1 is now available
Hi Simon. Thanks for the - very swift ! - update 13. I have no "unexpected error... messages anymore :-)
I will look into my conflicting ALBUMARTIST and conflicting DISCSUBTITLE error messages, but I'm pretty sure this is because of me doing something wrong :-) Greetz, Willem |

This has been the main cause of error messages of this kind in my case. I have found no way to make dbPoweramp (which is otherwise my CD ripping program of choice) play nicely in this respect. As I almost invariably need to do further work in MP3Tag on my newly ripped CDs before I let them loose on MinimServer, the issue is not a major problem for me. David |

RE: MinimServer 0.8.1 is now available
Hi Simon,
Thank you for this update, it has now resolved the vast majority of the files, however, I'm still encountering problems with approx 20 CD with the same error e.g : Error: unexpected end of file at offset 28804662 in file The Beatles/The White album/2-01 Birthday.aiff (length 28804662) Error: unexpected end of file at offset 22878245 in file Johnny Cash/American III - Solitary Man/01 I Won't Back Down.aiff (length 22878245) I'll drop them onto the FTP server for further analysis. Appreciate your help. BTW. The on line update mechanism works really well, thank you Thanks, Neil (30-12-2013 16:45)simoncn Wrote:(17-12-2013 22:53)jvilly Wrote: I get this error with the .wav files: |

Thanks for identifying that these were corrupt files, I'm re-ripping them now and all appearing fine now. Thanks again for all your help. cheers Neil (30-12-2013 21:01)NPR Wrote: Hi Simon, |
