If so, this is useful information because it suggests that the problem might be an issue with the network or possibly some interaction between an issue with the network and an issue with the LUMIN app.

Yes, exactly.

A more simple solution is to swipe out the lumin app on the iPad, and restart it; the renderer is then visible again

RE: The control app thread
Is anyone having trouble with LUMIN since its recent updates? I'm experiencing the following:
1) The app updates the music library automatically every time I open it, even when music is playing. Previously, this function was only in Setup and is manual.
2) The pause “button” does not work.
3) When browsing under Album Artist, I'm no longer able to view Artist/Composer in the track information. This is a problem when viewing albums that contain more than one Artist/Composer, i.e. compilation albums.

RE: The control app thread
1) it always starts syncing automatically when you add one or more albums and rescan with Minimserver, leave it working (don’t put in background) until it finishes to sync
2) are you using Bubbleupnpserver? In this case you need to update Bubbleupnpserver to the last release 0.9-update46, it will recover a Lumïn app issue that raised a couple of months ago
3) have you changed your Minimserver configuration?
… are you running iOS or Android version?

RE: The control app thread
Thanks!
1) Not sure what solved it because I tried a few things at once, but this one now appears solved.
2) Yes, using Bubbleupnpserver on DSM 6.2.4. Just reinstalled to the latest version, but pause control still not pausing.
3) Haven't changed the Minimserver configuration. Running app on latest iOS and also on an M1 Mac with both experiencing the same problems.

RE: The control app thread
3) Are your Lumïn app settings like these (in red)?

2) with Bubbleupnpserver 0.9-update46 and Lumïn 8.5.1 (iOS) works fine here

RE: The control app thread
3) For my browsing preferences, I use use Album Artist, and the have Composer Tab set to On. To illustrate the problem, the attached image shows two violin concertos, one by Prokofiev and the other by Shostakovich on the same Album. I can only see the Genre in the track listings, along with the year and time, no longer the Composer as I used to before the latest LUMIN update. The same is true for Artist.

2) Still no joy here!

RE: The control app thread
PS: Also running 8.5.1 on iOS. Made the mistake of updating too on my Mac when I should have waited to sort out the issues. The previous version on my Mac had no issues.

PPS: I realised I had an earlier version of LUMIN running on another computer. The attached is how it used to look.

You might try to install the Teac equivalent app, looks the same but software is a little behind.
