RE: MinimWatch greyed out
I run Macs so I'm not very good with Windows networking issues, but this sounds like some kind of firewall issue. Is there some sort of trusted sites list in McAfee? I've heard that sometimes 3rd party anti-virus software can block some access even when disabled.

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
Had the same problem this week and solved it via the other thread (3 down) about "minimwatch unable to detect minimserver".
Think there was a recent Java-update and probably was foolish enough to let it reset the java-security and thus this was blocked.
Please read the other thread carefully and make the blocked entries for Java in your firewall incoming rules dissappear and it will probably work again ...
Regards, Louis.

Good thought, java could be the culprit.

I do remember doing a Java update in the last couple of weeks. It was definitely working before the update. Don't know if that is a coincidence or not but will have a look.

Don't blame Java too quickly. After all, both MinimServer and MinimWatch are running.

Given that Windows indicates your NAS cannot be placed in the network map, it could also be that your network settings in Windows are set to identify your network as "Public". That means the pc will hide itself on the network and not open up all ports. It should be set to "home" or "work" to be visible in the network and see other components in the network.

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
Not entirely sure how the problem was fixed, but it's sorted. Final thing I did last night was to go into my firewall. It certainly looked as tho everything was permissioned correctly. I clicked all the Java boxes off then back on again. So effectively, no change!

Eventually, I shut down my PC.

On re-booting tonight, everything is working again.

Many thanks to all who were kind enough to offer solutions. Much appreciated!
