Normally I have alfagrouping enabled and disabling showExtras seems to be a bad idea, since this blocking the way to view all albums ,artists etc..
Adding tracks multiple times does happen sometimes, not always (not using Folder View) and is as far I have noticed not related to a specific action.
I have done some testing yesterday and seems to me there is a relation between the album and how many times it gets duplicated.(using Folder View)
One album did load repetitively 20 times whilst another did just twice.
Could there be some information on these albums that could trigger this behaviour?

Peter.

The '>> Tag View' link from folder view opens up the possibility of an arbitrary number of duplicates (when using an incompatible control point) depending on how the album is tagged. The only way to prevent this is by disabling showExtras to remove the '>> Tag View' link.

Other cases of duplication (not from folder view) will have a similar cause, triggered by one of the other three bullet points in this section. The only way to ensure you have no duplicates (when using an incompatible control point) is to set showExtras to false.
For the time being I think I will leave things as they are at the moment.
Multiple adding does not happen that frequently.
What I am interested in how to inform Cambridge Audio app developers to achieve a better compatibility with MinimServer (what is technically going wrong (especially when using Folder View)).
I know their vision is that the CA app should work with "mass-production" servers and they suggest MinimServer is just a small player in this context. Sometimes, however they take some comments seriously.

Peter.

Would you be willing to help by producing a MinimServer trace log and sending it to me? From the log, I should be able to see what is causing the incompatibility.

No problem.
Please advice how to test.

Please do the folowing:

1) Restart MinimServer
2) In Cambridge Connect, user folder view to browse to a list of album folders but don't open any of the album folders
3) From the minim icon, select Show log
4) In the log window, set the logging level to Trace
5) In the log window, click Clear
6) Leave the log window open
7) Press and hold one of the album folders, then select 'Add to queue'
8) You should see some output in the log window. In the log window, click 'Save as' to save this output to a file.
9) Attach this output to a post here (as a file attachment, not inline text)
10) In the log window, set the logging level back to Info

Many thanks!

Peter

Thanks very much for these logs. I can see what is causing the problem and I am thinking about how I could change MinimServer to solve this incompatibility. I will post back here when I have more information.

A fix for this is now available in MinimServer update 74.

Using FolderView the problem seems to be solved.
Browsing to genre and then add a selected genre to the queue gave a special result.
The selected albums were queued and then, for a bonus ,all tracks were added in alphabetical order.

Also MinimServer on my NAS stopped and although MinimWatch was still green I was not able access Show log.
Rebooting the NAS solved the problem.

Peter.

This behaviour is normal with all control points. You are adding everything underneath the selected genre, which includes 4 albums, 49 items and the contents of AlbumArtist, Date and Artists. To prevent this duplication from happening and add all the tracks in album order, you need to add the '4 albums' folder instead of adding the complete genre.

If this happens again, please post the contents of the minimserver.log file in the /share/Public folder before rebooting the NAS.

I now know what happened.
I tried to add a complete genre to the queue and got the message "couldn't add to queue".
After this I selected the 4 albums and added those to the queue.
The first process still continuous though and result is as you described.
I have tested this once more.
The items are queued even though the CA connect app says they are not!!
I think the controlpoint should guard you for making choices that are not possible. (selecting a complete genre was working perfect with the "old" StreamMagic app though).

Peter
