"Recent" sorting

Excellent news!

And thumbs up for the proposed way of implementing the feature. I tend to mess around with the tags sometimes, and it'd be great if that does not result in old albums with edited tags moving up the list. Can't wait

I will start work on this when update 43 is released. This should be within the next few days.

My preferred solution is to add a Recently Added choice in the top-level menu to show a fixed number of the most recently added items and albums, sorted with the newest entries first. I am also hoping to do something similar for Recently Played.

In addition to the Recently Added playlist would it be possible to also consider adding some or all of the following:

JukeBox Album - A random list of 10 or 20 albums, updated each time it is selected
JukeBox Tracks - A random list of 100 tracks, updated each time it is selected.
Recently Played - a list of recently played tracks
Most Played Artist
Most Played Album

I find the JukeBox Album the most useful.

And for classical music: most played composer, recently played conductor, orchestra, soloist, etc.? For "most played", over what time period?

The list of possibilities is probably endless and I think it's unlikely that MinimServer would provide selections like these.

I think the "Jukebox" selections are best provided by the control point. BubbleUPnP does a good job with this.

It's quite likely that MinimServer would provide Recently Played lists of tracks and albums when the Recently Added feature is implemented.

I agree that the list is endless and you probably can't cover every requirement for most played.

For the JukeBox selections BubbleUPNP does do a very good job, but it's only available for Android and so if you want to use Windows or iOS or Unix etc.. there is no JukeBox functionality available, but if it's implemented as a PlayList in MinimServer it's available for every Control Point.

BubbleUPnP demonstrates that it is feasible and efficient for a control point to provide this capability. In contrast, it would be difficult for a control point to provide a Recently Added list. I would prefer to focus my efforts on things that are clearly the responsibility of the server.
