RE: configuring transcoding

I find it interesting that in the log-file there is the same filename correctly displayed in one log-message, while in another log-message the same filename is displayed in a malformed way (relativePath looks good, while resourcePath seems garbled). For me with my limited knowledge this points to the direction that internally there might be some problem with handling UTF8-strings? |

What does MinimServer show as the default platform charset at the start of the log? If it isn't UTF-8, this could explain the problem. |

No, but it is a good idea to use -vn (ignore video tracks, such as mjpeg in FLAC) when transcoding audio. |

Can you try pasting this command into a command prompt to see if it works: ffmpeg -v 0 -analyzeduration 0 -f mp3 -request_sample_fmt flt -i "/media/musik/archiv/Erlend Øye [DJ-Kicks_ Erlend Øye]/01 - So weit wie noch nie.mp3" -f s24le -acodec pcm_s24le -sample_fmt s32 pipe: You will probably need to redirect stdout to a file. Edit: It might be a good idea to remove -v 0 so that you see any error messages. What is the platform default charset value shown at the start of the MinimServer log? |

When I redirect the output into a file, it generates a file (56MB), which I cannot playback with VLC locally when named with a "wav"-extension. I don't know if that should work or not. When omitting "-v 0", I see some output during transcoding, including an errormessage. I attach the output so you can take a look at it. Regarding the default charset value - the log-file of MinimServer says the following when being started: "Platform default charset is US-ASCII". I have to say this last bit is catching my attention - perhaps here lies the problem, what do you think? I'll look about how to modify the platform default charset. |

This is working correctly. The output file isn't intended to play "as is". This US-ASCII setting is definitely the cause of the problem. When MinimServer runs the ffmpeg command, some characters in the command string are getting mangled because of this incorrect setting. To fix it, you need to use the locale and/or localedef commands to set the charset to UTF-8. |
