I just specified to start the minimserver service.
I works now with a shutdown of minimserver scheduled a few minutes before the restart.

I have tried this and I get the same results as you. I have reported this problem to Synology. Thanks for letting me know about it.

RE: minimserver stops running
MinimServer on my Synology NAS 415+ stopped and would not start. It says Error, and when you hit rescan, it just says restarting, nothing happens.

1) If you select 'Show log' from the MinimWatch minim icon, what do you see in the log window? Please try doing this before you continue with step 2 below.

2) What happens if you stop and restart MinimServer from the Synology Package Center?

3) If step 2 doesn't help, try rebooting the NAS.

RE: minimserver stops running
A couple days ago MinimServer was stopped and no NAS OS upgrade had occurred. So I didn't have any explanation.

Are you running MinimServer on a Synology NAS?

Yes, running on Synology NAS. So I have found that when the OS automatically updates then MinimServer isn't restarted.

This is a known problem and I have reported it to Synology.

When MinimServer stopped for you recently, is it possible that the NAS might have applied an automatic OS update?

RE: minimserver stops running
Note that I'm the person who started this thread. So after learning about the issue with automatic updates, I setup the NAS to email me when it applies an update. That worked. It updated. I got an email. MinimServer was stopped. I retstarted it. Everything working with a satisfactory workaround.

But in this case, I received no email and it didn't appear that the NAS had rebooted or installed any updates. (At least there were no messages I found indicating either thing.)
