Minim Streamer stream converter field blank

I have installed Minim Server and the additional Minim Streamer addin, however the stream converter field is blank. This is on a Samsung NC10 netbook with Windows XP.

You need to install either ffmpeg or avconv. These are very similar, so the choice comes down to which is simpler to install on the platform you're using to run MinimServer.

For Windows, it should be simpler to install ffmpeg. There are good clear instructions for doing this on this page. After following steps 1, 2 and 3, exit MinimServer by selecting Exit from the minim icon in the system tray, then relaunch MinimServer by double-clicking the desktop launch icon. You should now see 'ffmpeg' in the stream.converter field.

I have followed the instuctions to install ffmpeg on my Windows7 laptop. I have also followed your further instruction regarding restarting MinimWatch. However, I still have a blank stream.converter field. When I add ffmpeg manually and click apply, I get the warning "Converter not installed; correct highlighted value and retry". Should I uninstall MinimWatch and reinstall?

Did you mean MinimServer when you said MinimWatch? You need to install ffmpeg on the machine runnng MinimServer, not the machine running MinimWatch.

Reinstalling MinimServer and/or MinimWatch won't make any difference. It seems that ffmpeg isn't installed correctly on the machine running MinimServer and this is what needs to be fixed.

Sorry, I meant MinimWatch as the MinimServer is on my ReadyNAS. What you say makes persfect sense, is it possible to install ffmpeg on a ReadyNAS as an add-on (or any other way)? TIA.

Fantastic, all working now, thanks for your help. All I need to do now is work out how to play the MinimServer BBC Radio stations on my SONOS (rather than TuneIn).
