MiniWatch PC installation

I sussessfully installed MiniServer on my QNAP TS-110 and can play my classical record collection using Kinsky on my Linn DS. I have not succeeded however in installing MiniWatch on my PC on the same network to control the MiniServer. As per instructions, I first installed the appropriate Java JRE using the provided link, then downloaded the MiniWatch PC program. When I try to open it using the created MiniWatch desktop icon, it asks me to choose which program to open it with. I then choose the Java icon but it fails to open.
