Question Content directory is not valid: /volume1/music/My+Music
I have just tried to install the latest version of MinimServer (MinimServer-0.8.1-x86.spk) on my Synology DS412+ NAS but have hit a problem at the final step where I have to enter the path to the music files on the NAS. In my case, this path is '/volume1/music/My Music' but that triggers the following error message:

Content directory is not valid: /volume1/music/My+Music

I guess my use of space characters in the folder name is the problem but I thought that most versions of Unix accepted such embedded blanks years ago. It certainly didn't cause any issues for my previous installation of MinimServer 0.72 on this NAS.

This problem with using space characters in the content directory field of the status page is fixed in update 17 for MinimServer 0.8.1. To apply this update, you need to install MinimWatch 0.8.1 on another computer and do the following:

1) Start MinimWatch. MinimServer will show as a red icon.
2) Right-click the red icon and select About
3) In the About dialog, click 'Show updates'
4) Follow the prompts to install MinimServer-0.8-update-17 and relaunch MinimServer
5) After MinimServer restarts, you will still have a red icon
6) You can now enter a content directory containing spaces into the content directory field of the status page to complete the setup process

Thanks, Simon. All is now well. I didn't actually have to select 'Show updates'; the reinstallation of MinimWatch generated popups that prompted the update of both MinimWatch and MinimServer.

BTW, is there some reason why the latest downloads of MinimServer and MinimWatch don't already include the latest updates?

The new update mechanism is intended to avoid the need for me to refresh and retest 25 downloads every time I make an update. This means I can make updates available much more frequently.

That sounds like a pretty convincing reason! However, you might want to make this update mechanism clearer on your Downloads page. My installation of MinimServer on the NAS failed before I tried installing MinimWatch. It's not at all obvious that updating MinimWatch will prompt what were vital updates to MinimServer in my case.

Thanks for this suggestion. I will add some information about the update mechanism to either the Downloads or Installing page.

This particular bug is unusual in that it affects the installation and setup process. I will add a suitable warning to the installation instructions that mention entering the content directory value into the status page.
