Replace Genre (displayFormat)
Hello
I am not really interested in the Genre data. It is "there", but I am not maintaining it. BubbleUpnP is showing it in the Now Playing view only. Now I thought to replace it with "Publisher" and "Comment", if available, or otherwise I keep Genre. My idea is to do it via Genre.displayFormat So I added Publisher and Comment into the itemTags-property and tried it with tagFormat: Genre.displayFormat={$publisher^^ - ^$comment} With that I see now the comment (if available) in Now Playing, but never the "Publisher". If comment is empty, I see the Genre. I’ve done a lot of tinkering and digging around, but I just can’t get it to work. Is my approach wrong or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any hint. RE: Replace Genre (displayFormat)
There is confusion in industry standards between LABEL and PUBLISHER tag names. Depending on what tagging program you use and the file format of your music (FLAC, M4A, DSF, etc.), you might need to use $label instead of $publisher.

RE: Replace Genre (displayFormat)
Hello Simon
So, you confirm, that my approach should work basically, right? And also the code has no syntax error? That would help already. Indeed I am sometimes struggling with the correct name of a tag (or used name in the file), if it is not "Album" or "Artist". I looked it up in MP3tag in the "extended tags" and there it is PUBLISHER. I will investigate further then. |

I've always followed the MusicBrainz Picard naming standard and have never had any issues (LABEL in this case): https://picard-docs.musicbrainz.org/en/l....html#id51 Tagging with Picard is a different matter entirely though, as its approach to artist tagging isn't compatible/optimal with MinimServer (same applies to Mp3tag I believe). |

RE: Replace Genre (displayFormat)
MinimServer maps ID3v2 Publisher tags to Label. This is documented in this section.
If you don't want this, you can add LABEL:PUBLISHER to the aliasTags property. |

RE: Replace Genre (displayFormat)
Just to let you know the solution....
I tried it with PUBLISHER, LABEL, PRODUCER .. I also tried german descriptions as I sometimes add tags with Musicbee set on german language (You never know ).No success. But Musicbee as a starting point brought me forward. I wanted to check, how Musicbee saves "Publisher" as it is named in there in english language. I found out, that it saves it as ORGANIZATION. https://community.mp3tag.de/t/flac-taggi...tion/13045 And I found out, that MP3tag has a mapping, which shows ORGANIZATION again as PUBLISHER in the extended tags. https://community.mp3tag.de/t/flac-taggi...tion/13045 That's why everything looked like being PUBLISHER, but it is ORGANIZATION |

One of my favourite features of MusicBee is its Tag Inspector (Right click on a track > Edit > Tag Inspector). As you can see, MusicBee also maps the Vorbis LABEL field to Publisher in its UI. |
