Recently added option
I cant seem to find the syntax for the option to change the *RecentAdded limit from the default 300 to 1000.
Any pointers gratefully recieved.

Thank you Stefano, I've updated the serveroptions and will add some files/albums in due course.

RE: Recently added option
This option was limited to 1000 entries in order to limit rescan time I believe. With increased computer power over time would it be possible to revisit this limit?

RE: Recently added option
I would love to increase the number of recently added to 2000. Many devices have enough computing power to handle such a task and it would not slow down Minimserver.

RE: Recently added option
I agree that many devices have enough computing power to handle a larger limit. Also, many devices running MinimServer are old with limited memory and/or CPU power and might have problems with a larger limit, depending on how large the limit is. The limit needs to allow for both of these situations.

It would be very helpful if those who would like a larger limit could answer the following question: If the recentAdded option had no limit, what setting would you choose?

RE: Recently added option
I tend to add about 100 albums at a time so 1000 sometimes fails to account for all additions. I would probably go for 2000 as this would give me a safety buffer. I appreciate the point about older computers but does giving a higher option slow everyone down even if they don’t use it?

RE: Recently added option
Thanks for this. It is very helpful for me to understand what kind of increase is needed.

With any limit, some people instinctively choose the maximum value they are allowed. Some time later they might notice that rescans are slower than they expect. At this point, they might not realise that their choice some time previously to increase the limit is related to the slow rescan time.

RE: Recently added option
My expectations are the same as Keithsonic's. 2,000 items would be a good compromise for me. The current limit usually yields around 90 albums. I'm currently updating the albums quite extensively with tags about the instrumentalists who participated in the recordings. This means that after two to three days, changed (updated) albums are no longer listed in the "Recently Added" section.

RE: Recently added option
Thanks for this.

Updating the tags in a file should not move it into the "Recently added" section. The "Recently added" section should contain only new files that have been added. Files that have been renamed or moved are also marked as added.
