RE: I cannot play DSD files
The ffmpeg examples in post #4 are not transcoding DSD to DoP/WAV. They are transcoding DSD to PCM encoded as FLAC.
MinimStreamer does not use FFmpeg when transcoding to DoP/WAV. It uses its own internal converter. It makes no difference whether or not ffmpeg is in the stream.converter property or whether or not there is a space before or after the comma in the stream.transcode property. I have tried dsf:dopwav on my DAC and it plays with no problems. I don't understand why it isn't working correctly on your DAC. |

RE: I cannot play DSD files
I have just tried again. I use mconnectHD on an iPad to browse the NAS with the music files via MinimServer[myname]. The server is connected via Ethernet to a router, which in turn is connected to the DAC via an Ethernet cable with UPnP. I first tried both 64 and 128 DSD files, both playable by the DAC over DoP according to specs. Marked distortion with both, worse with 128. After that I also tested a variety of PCM files from the NAS: all distorted and also distortion in the PCM files I played from Qobuz.
I then switched the DAC off, and back on: at this point PCM files from Qobuz AND from the NAS sound normal again. It’s as if playing DSD with the NAS “alters” the DAC, and the alteration disappears once it’s turned off and on again. |

RE: I cannot play DSD files
Your results are consistent and seem to show that there is some unexplained incompatibility between the DoP/WAV stream produced by MinimStreamer and the Weiss DAC501.
I have created a test DoP/WAV file that you could download and try. If it shows the problem when you play it on the DAC501 using mconnect, you could share it with Daniel for his analysis. I will send you a PM with a link to download the file. |

RE: I cannot play DSD files
Thanks for confirming that the file is playing from your Alkif server. You are probably not seeing it in your MinimServer library because it doesn't have any tags and therefore appears under the [untagged] index. Please try playing the file from the MinimServer [untagged] index and confirm whether it is playing without distortion.

That will be the key test. |

RE: I cannot play DSD files
I have put it in different locations in Alkif (e.g. in and out of a folder) and I can see it within it, but I cannot see it if I search through Minimserver
