Best iPad App for MinimlServer

what are the best iPad apps for MinimServer? (hardware = Synology + SOtM sMS200)

can we find a list with the strong points and the weak points for each app ?

Lumïn, and Teac HR Streamer and Esoteric Sound Stream as well, have the best integration with Minimserver, they are all developed by Pixel Magic and they are substantially the same app with little aesthetic differences. They all need Bubbleupnpserver running on the local network (on the nas too) to work properly. They are all free and are available for iOS and Android.
JPlay for iOS (iOS only) is a recently developed app (not free, annual subscription) that has a deep integration with Minimserver too, compared to the other three it has the advantage of showing, if they exist, the album booklets (with the appropriate Minimserver configuration) and can show tracks grouped by Work tag if it’s used. The UI can be much more captivating (very … Roonish) and integrates seamlessly in the library Qobuz and/or Tidal. It retrieves album and artist information from the web for Qobuz and Tidal only. It doesn’t need to run Bubbleupnpserver.
All these apps need to synchronize the local db with Minimserver each time you add or modify albums/tracks and they offer a by folder browsing capability too. They are all very reliable and stable.

Lumin and linn app. But both need openhome (bubble upnp server)

Bubbleupnpserver on the SOtM is veeeery slow, you’ll have a better experience installing it on your nas

That is not “enough” for Lumïn, you need Bubbleupnpserver

I don't understand why this would not be enough, assuming that checking this box makes the SOtM act as an OpenHome renderer.

Because Lumïn app needs some more features that are available only in Bubbleupnpserver … but you can try yourself
