QNAP starts but crash out
My friend has QNAP HS210 with loads of music stored.
It has been running with minim 2.1 with no problem. But last couple of days it stops running continuously. I tried to help him without success. So we decided to update it to 2.2. It has been successfully installed and it initially starts then starts indexing the library. Then after running a while it crashes out, without being able to access configuration page. HS210 itself is running. I am wondering the library has some bad file or just too big. Posting log file will help surely? Thank you very much for your help. |

RE: QNAP starts but crash out
Please post the minimserver.log file. This file is in the MinimServer shared folder. If the file is large (more than 100 KB), please zip it and post the zipped file.

RE: QNAP starts but crash out
As you suspected, MinimServer is running out of memory. The Java heap for MinimServer is full.
There is a way to increase the Java heap size allocated by MinimServer on some platforms. Unfortunately at present this is not possible for QNAP. I will work on a solution and post back here when it is available. |

At least we know what causes this problem. Is it numbers of tracks or sizes of libraries? I appreciate you are busy with hundreds of things to fix and implement but how long do you think it will take to have your solution for this particular problem, weeks or months? If long my friend needs to cut down the library for now….. Many thanks again. |

RE: QNAP starts but crash out
It is likely to be caused by the number of tracks in the library.
I hope to have a solution in the next few days but this will depend on whether the approach I have in mind works when I test it. |

Thank you very much for your indication on the cause of the problem.
Much appreciate that you are going to test your solution in coming days. Fingers crossed for successful implementation! |

RE: QNAP starts but crash out
Based on your Heap configuration files and professional support, my friend's Minim is now up and running, although it took a very long time to index initially.
I hope this is now settled, at least I know how to increase the heap in QNAP-Minim environment! Many thanks again Simon. |

RE: QNAP starts but crash out
Thanks for confirming this. The new support for changing heap size in QNAP will be included the next MinimServer update.
It can take a long time to do the initial scan of a large library because this requires reading tags and audio data from every file. Subsequent rescans will be much faster because they use cached information for unchanged files. |
