Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
I'm really pleased to see Recently Added and Recently Played in MinimServer 2.
The latter seems to work fine for me, but I'm seeing something unusual from the former. When I add new files, it forgets all of the other "recently added" files and will only show the batch from the most recent scan. I don't get categories for week/month, only the last day or 2023 – and it will only show what was added in the last library scan. |

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
Whcih version of MinimServer are you running? There were some problems with recently added files that are fixed in the latest versions of MinimServer (MinimServer 2.1 update 222 and MinimServer 2.2).
If you are running either of the above versions, the problem has some other cause. Which platform are you using to run MinimServer? The accumulated list of recently added files found in MinimServer rescans is held in a file named added-dates.txt. The location of this file depends on the platform you are using to run MinimServer. If for some reason this file is being deleted after a rescan, this would explain what you are seeing. |

I'm running MinimServer 2.2 (update 235) on a Synology NAS (DSM version 7.1.1). I have checked the MinimServer folder for "added-dates.txt" and indeed it only shows the most recent set of files. I will do an experiment now and add one more CD, and see if the file gets overwritten… Hmm, something even more strange happened! The file was overwritten, and the new album was added to it… but some other albums I added yesterday disappeared and are now nowhere in "Recently added"! It's modifying the file, but deleting things in the process. |

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
To be absolutely sure I have understood you correctly, did your previously added files get removed from the added-dates.txt file when the new files were added to it? Or were the older files deleted from the Recently Added index while still being shown in the added-dates.txt file?

Something is going wrong when the "added-dates.txt" file is being updated. If you like, I can send you the file in its current state, import a new CD, and then send you the updated version of the file. |

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
Thanks for the quick reply. The information you have provided is sufficient for now. I will set up a test on my Synology NAS and let you know what I find.

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
I tried this and it is working for me.
Please use File Station to check the Privilege and Owner for the added-dates.txt file. The Privilege should be rw-r--r-- and the Owner should be MinimServer. |

There are two "MinimServer"s assigned privileges here. Is one a user and another a group? I don't know what these two different icons mean: one is a silhouette, the other a computer window. 2. The owner is "MinimServer" with a silhouette icon. 3. The file permissions themselves are different for each of the "MinimServer"s. The window-icon version has more privileges (in the screenshot, the final "Delete" from "Write" is not visible, but it is NOT enabled). By contrast, the silhouette-icon version (I take it, the owner?) has only selected read privileges. I guess that I should enable more for this silhouette version? Are you able to enlighten me about the multiple users all called "MinimServer" and what is going on here? |

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
Another bit of info: I tried editing the permissions so they match for both of the MinimServer users. The same problem persists. Older albums are being deleted from the top of the file each time new files are added. It never wipes everything, but it's like it's always removing a few albums that were at the top of the file …
EDIT: Checking the permissions again, it doesn't look like they actually got changed … So this experiment didn't actually change anything at all. For whatever reason it didn't save the permission change. |

RE: Unusual behaviour from Recently Added
btw, I checked also the "added-dates.txt" file. It always matches the "added-files.txt" file. So the same problem is happening with both of these.
The recently played file exhibits no issues at all. |
