Question about the licence model and browsing through music

I also think that there has been some confusion here.
Therefore, I will try to present it again in a simplified way

the structure currently looks (simplified) as follows:

• Artists
• ...
• Audio Type Filter
  • Compilations
  • Audio Books
  • Music
  • Podcasts
    

Within the sub-items of "Audio Type Filter", under the item "Compilations", there is an intelligent browsing list with ALL audio files that are tagged accordingly.

Under the item "Music" there is also an intelligent browsing list, which (with the exception of Audio Books and Podcasts) contains ALL other audio files.

Here, the separation works exactly as desired.

However, the situation is different under "Artists".
There, all artists are listed that are also displayed within "Audio Type Filter" -> "Music" -> "Artist".
In addition, however, also SOME of the artists of audio files that contain the tags COMPILATION=1 and ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists.
But only some and not all. And I can't see any pattern why these some elements are listed there, but others are not.

Could you select one of those files that you think is from a compilation, track its filename down using 'Show Metadata' and paste its tags here, because you should only be seeing 'Various Artists' in the index coming from albums with AlbumArtist='Various Artists'?

Oh yes, of course the Compilations are excluded also.

It doesn't explain why one works and one doesn't but for the one that does show, could you remove the other tag formats just leaving ID3v2.4?

Removed the other tag formats, but it's still the same behaviour.

I'm running out of ideas!

Can you:
Copy that one file into its own directory
Change the content path of MinimServer to point to that new folder
Put a filename into writeAllTags and another into writeTagChanges

and then perform a rescan?
Maybe those logs will tell us something...

OK, did that.
With just the both files in a complete new Folder

Curiously now in "Artists" both Artists are shown, but theres no Audio Type Filter anymore

Stoped the server and completely deleted everything and started with a fresh install.
Imported the last profile and did a complete new scan.

Still the same behaviour.

I actually meant you to do it just on the file that's incorrectly being shown, as the log just lists distinct values from all files, so I don't know which file ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists came from.

Is Andy Rehfeldt tagged as AlbumArtist somewhere? Or tagged as Artist on a file with no AlbumArtist tag?
