Instances do not match item count...
This has recently occurred. I have a Synology instance & a Mac instance of MinimServer. The item counts do not match and I have the properties set the same. I copied & pasted the properties from one to the other and rescanned. I also rebooted my Mac.
In my Mac instance, there are 10240 items & in my Synology instance there are 10318 items. I tried to figure out what's going on...The album count is 850 for both instances. I have and album by Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls. The track "It's For You" has " in the title and I think this may have something to do with the issue. My problem is how can I find the other 77 tracks that are not in the Mac instance? At one time the the item count was equal. I tried pulling the Pat Metheny CD into my MetaDatics app to see what's going on and the It's For You Track does not import into the app yet it shows up in the list for the album in my Synology instance. Any suggestions... |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
Is the Synology simply a sync from the Mac, if so, what does your sync software report?
I'd be tempted to produce a log using writeAllTags for each instance and diff the two. If your mac instance is looking at a mac source, can you create a new profile and point it to your Synology content directory? That would rule out any software differences. If both MinimServer's are pointing to the same data, how many items/albums are reported when you select Pat Metheny from the Artist/Album Artist index? If both are pointing to the Synology for their music files, could it be a permissions problem (although this would likely cause MinimServer to write messages to the log during scanning); although given both have the same album counts it would have to be something like a backup/recyclebin. You could double check the groups/permissions that MinimServer and the mac shared user have. Alternatively, sudo to both users and do file counts, something like 'find . -name "*.flac" | wc -l'. There's not a lot to go on, so just a few thoughts. |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
Both instances point to my Synology NAS for the data.
I looked at Album Artist Sort Index and the only difference for any Pat Metheny albums is with As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls. The track "It's For You" is not in the results for the Mac instance. If there was a way to dump doth instances data to Excel, I could do some data comparisons. I'll try the writealltags and see what I can decipher... My initial suspicion is the double quotes or some other character set in the title has some impact like the screen shots in original post show...I can re rip the suspect discs, but I first need to ID them, there are about ~77 tracks not showing up in my Mac instance. I played the Synology instance of As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls without issue (all 5 tracks) |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
Did you check how many tracks/folders are reported at the end of the scanning in both instances log?
Is there any reported error in the logs? |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
Characters in the title will not affect scanning but characters in the filename might possibly cause problems. What is the complete exact filename of the file that doesn't show up on the Mac? When you post this filename, do not add any quotation marks around it.

It's For You Here's the screen shots from both instances for the album in question. Also, take a look at the characters in the titles from these screen shots...I just went to the item count and took the first several from each instance. Notice they are not the same... |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
The complete exact filename cannot be
It's for You It would need to be something like It's for You.flac It's for You.mp3 etc. You can use Finder on your Mac or File Station on the Synology to see the complete exact filename. The screenshots are different because there are six extra files at the start of the "10318 items" list. |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
It's for you.flac
Thats the problem, the 2 instances don't match by items, 850 albums are true for each instance. The reason for the screen shots was to indicate the item counts for the 2 instance are off, thus the 10240 vs the 10318. |

RE: Instances do not match item count...
I will try a test with a file named It's for You.flac and let you know what happens.
