Minm server on QNAP
I have dowloaded a correct version for my QNAP ts-451D2 running QTS 4.5.3.
Unfortunately, minim server cannot be installed due to lack of JRE or JRE_Arm as the log says - " you must first install and run JRE 8.0 or JRE _ARM ...". However no JRE can be found for this verison of QTS. any suggestion or ideas? I'm not going to pay for something which is going to be useless. |

For some reason, JRE doesn't show in the web App Center but does show in QTS App Center. Glad to hear all is well now.

RE: Minm server on QNAP
Hi, I am from Japan, and new here. I was probably in a similar situation as others; the old MinimServer had suddenly stopped playing music, so, I needed to restore the system by MinimServer2 as soon as possible. I carefully followed your instructions and have succeeded in installing MinimServer2.
Server: QNAP HS210S CPU: Marvell 1.6GHz Processor OS: QTS 4.2.2 How to listen: DLNA, OpenHome How to use: MinimWatch on a Windows 10 Controller: Bubble UPnP on a Android, Kinsky on Windows10 PCs, Kazoo on Windows10 PCs Shortly speaking, overall steps are: 1. Updated QTS versions. 2. Installed MinimWatch2 on a Windows10 PC. 3. Updated JRE in QTS. 4. Downloaded MinimServer2, ARMv5 (above CPU seems ARMv7, but v5 seems correct.) 5. Manually installed it in App Center. Then, everything went back to normal, except that the tag "Instrument" which I created for classical music does not appear in Kinsky. However, my "defalt" profile seems to include "Instrument." I would like to know how to get my "Instrument" tag appeared. Do I need the full license for it? |

RE: Minm server on QNAP
You will also need to install the MinimStreamer package. This is required in order to use the stream.transcode setting in your profile.

RE: Minm server on QNAP
Hi, thanks for your prompt reply.
I do not have a clear idea of what MinimStreamer is, and I am not sure if I had installed it in my previous MinimServer. Also, as long as I listen to my audio now, DLNA streaming seems to be working without MinimStreamer installed. As you mentioned transcoding, I use only below codes to be stored in NAS and to be sent to DAC as they are. This is because I believe that any compressed formats even lossless ones would damage the sound quality. - FLAC uncompressed (44.1/16 - 352/24) - DSF (2.8 - 11.2Mbps) Do I still need to install MinimStreamer? I would also appreciate it, if you would kindly tell me if I need the full license to get back the "Instrument" tag viewed. |

RE: Minm server on QNAP
Dear Peter StreamMagic,
Sorry, I noticed your post now. Dear Simon, I have also noticed that DSF files do not properly play. So, it seems that I need the full license (or at least trial for it) to get back "Instrument" tag viewed, and DSF be properly played. |

RE: Minm server on QNAP
Yes, you need a full or trial license and MinimStreamer to get your DSF files playing (and any DFF files you might have).
