Routing Minimserver2 to my NAS
I decided to change the computer I run Minimserver 2 (full license) from my NAS to my RPi4/4GB.
I want to route Minimserver to scan my library that it is in the NAS but I couldn't find the right path for the NAS the ip/volume/music doesn't work!
Any help is much appreciated!!
Thank you!!!
(I admit I didn't search for same topics)

RE: Routing Minimserver2 to my NAS
It is usually best to run MinimServer on the same device that contains your music library, if that device is able to run MinimServer.

To run MinimServer on your RPi, you need to set up the RPi to mount the shared folder containing your NAS music library as a local folder on the RPi. There is some information about how to do this for a WIndows shared folder on this page. Mounting a NAS shared folder should be similar.

After you have mounted the NAS shared folder, put its local RPi path in the contentDir property.

Thank you!
Problem solved! Actually it never excised! I had already the NAS mounted to the Pi the path was correct from the start! My bad!

I decided to try on the rpi because my NAS is a very low spec'd device and I thought it might be better on the rpi... for now it seems it works OK!
I will see in the next couple of days!

I also wanted to ask about the ffmpeg version I can use with the rpi. What is the right one? On my nas I used 4.2.2 armhf static. I would like to use later version.

RE: Routing Minimserver2 to my NAS
From the FFmpeg downloads page, it looks like 4.3.1 is the latest version.

Yes but there are many types... the ffmpeg-git-arm64-static.tar.xz - md5 or the ffmpeg-release-arm64-static.tar.xz - md5 is the right one?
Thank you!

You can choose which you prefer. The git is more recent. Are you sure your RPi can run arm64 applications? Did you install the arm64 version of MinimServer?

Yes I installed the arm64 version!

I am trying to find the thread that was posted the way to use the new ffmpeg... Is there a guide? I have done it to my NAS but now I don't think I remember exactly the way!

Thank you very much!!!

RE: Routing Minimserver2 to my NAS
The recommended way to do this is to copy the new ffmpeg executable to the minimserver/opt/bin folder.

I did and it works fine! Thank you!!

In the mean time -after I have done the above- the dev of the OS I use for the RPi4 replied to me that ffmpeg 3.4.1 was already installed in the system!
Should I delete the executable from the minimserver/opt/bin?
Before I move it, in Minimservers "properties/system/stream.converter" I saw only "ffmpeg" now I see "opt/bin/ffmpeg".
As I said it works fine but I am wondering what is the right thing to do!

RE: Routing Minimserver2 to my NAS
I presume you mean 4.3.1, not 3.4.1.

stream.converter shows ffmpeg if MinimStreamer is using an ffmpeg executable on the system path. It shows opt/bin/ffmpeg if MinimStreamer is using an ffmpeg executable in the opt/bin folder.

It doesn't much matter which of these you use. If you want to use the system ffmpeg, remove ffmpeg from opt/bin and restart MinimServer.
