MinimWatch wont run on my Mac

OSX 10.15.6

I had an old version of MinimWatch that would run, but told me it was out of date. Updated to the latest version (0.8.5.2) from the website this morning.

When running it, I got no error message, but it doesn't show up in the top bar where it should.

I updated Java from the link.

Still same behavior -- no message, but no nothing.

Ideas?

The latest version of MinimWatch is 2.0.13. To install it, follow the instructions on this page, taking the path for MinimWatch 2 instead of MinimWatch 0.8. There are a number of changes in MinimWatch 2.0.13 that make the installation process simpler on newer versions of macOS and this is likely to solve the problem you are seeing.

MinimWatch 0.8.5.2 will be removed from the website soon.

What version of macOS are you running and what version of Java do you have installed?

You can check your ~/Library folder (not the same as /Library) for log files. These files are in the MinimWatch subfolder of ~/Library. Look in this folder for files named minimwatch.log and minimwatch-out.log. Do these files exist? If so, what do they contain?

Minimwatch-out.log contains:

Integrity check value missing for file minimwatch.config

My minimwatch.config file has a 2016 date modified date.

To solve this, drag your minimwatch.config file to the trash and relaunch MinimWatch 2. MinimWatch 2 will create a new minimwatch.config file containing a correct integrityCheck value.

If you have customised the properties for your previous installation of MinimWatch (this would be unusual), you will need to reapply the customisations after starting MinimWatch 2.
