It is already available on GentooPlayer... last row of enable/disable sw

I use Gentooplayer (without MS enabled, for now at least) but I was referring to Minimserver 2!

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
I tried GentooPlayer (version 2.10, 23/02) on an RPi4 but MinimServer did not appear on the "player" menu. Is this the correct place to be looking?

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
you need to update to version 2.12 (typo ... was 2.10)
from terminal connect to gentooplayer (user: root, password: raspiroot) and give gp-update command
then connect via web (ip-address:5000) .... clean your browser cache before
on the left-side menu go to System.H ----> GP-Version Update
... you have to go through two updates, first is 2.10 ---> 2.11, second is 2.11 ---> 2.12 ...
when the first update will end and you'll be notified that you are running version 2.11 (you could need to refresh your browser)
you'll be able to find a new section in the left menu "1. News" where you'll find the instruction to update to 2.12
when this second update will end and you'll be notified that you are running version 2.12 go to B. Enable/Disable Software
and you'll find how to enable Minimserver
.... a little bit complex but not impossible ...

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
The update failed with a curl error and I can no longer login as root. I presume the failed update has damaged some system files.

The primitive user interface and fragile error recovery makes me feel I am back in 1975...

Edit: I was eventually able to login but then the gp-update command was not found.

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
I agree with you that version 2.10 was a bit immature ... you have to use the command line for gp-update

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
The problem was that the gp-update command removed itself when the update failed. I have rewritten the image and I will make another attempt.

It is indeed a bit bizarre:

rpi6 ~ # which gp-update
which: no gp-update in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/opt/bin)
rpi6 ~ # gp-update

Local overlay and gentooplayer scripts will be updated

The GenTooPlayer web interface is a bit primitive and not very responsive. Rebooting from the command line (with `reboot`) yields to a loss of the wireless settings in my system. The command line commands (after remote ssh root login) are not fully consistent with the commands of the web interface.

Still, I have found GenTooPlayer to be more usable than Volumio, DietPi and AudioLinux. I have been running GenTooPlayer in parallel with my own Raspbian-based minimal distribution (basically, MPD, upmpdcli and MinimServer, no HDMI, no bluetooth, no internal audio, no USB bus and eth0) and it works just fine. They both require less than 250mA and streaming via the wireless or (through the onboard MinimServer instance) from the micro SD card sounds very good through a DigiOne Signature powered by UpTone Audio JS-2 (RPi) and LPS-1.2 (DigiOne Signature).

RE: Future Minimserver 2 device releases
Mine failed part way through "Cloning into 'GP-script-2'..." and left the system in an unusable state. It is good to know that it works sometimes. Smile I will try again later today.

I never ran into that problem, perhaps better check with the GenTooPlayer author (antonellocaroli) on https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic...#comments. He is usually very supportive.

If you are looking at GenTooPlayer for testing purposes, please be aware that, to the best of my knowledge, GenTooPlayer does not provide any kind of interfacing or customization options for MinimServer. Enabling MinimServer just starts MinimServer with the default options and users are supposed to set it up by themselves, I understand. From this angle, it is not different from installing and starting MinimServer under Raspbian or any other non-dedicated distribution.
