View composer and artist at control point
I am near completing tagging my music collection (900+) albums which are mostly classical. Music is tagged using Qoobar and I am using Minimserver for my iTunes library and Minimwatch for my Melco. Both are connected to a Linn Preamp thus using Minim products via the Kazoo app.

1. When viewing my music selection on my iPad I notice that I see only the track name. Other information including soloist or composer does not show. The only way I can see how to solve this would be to cram in composer and artist names into the title track. Otherwise, I am able to search for composer and artist thus showing that my tags are working. Essentially my question is how can we view the information that we have tagged on our iPad display screen for a given album?

2. Of less concern, I notice that Minimserver or Minimwatch does not recognize inputs into the "conductor" field in Qoobar. To trouble shoot this I have added a field called "Dirigent" to Qoobar and Minimserver and Minimwatch both recognize this field as instructed.

Great product. I am more easily able to find the music I want to listen but need a bit more information when viewing the iPad screen. I cannot always remember the composer, artist or orchestra if it is not present in the album art.

RE: View composer and artist at control point
It is up to the control point to choose what information to display (track title, album name, track artist, album artist, composer, etc.) MinimServer sends all this information to the control point if your files are tagged correctly and you have the right settings for indexTags and itemTags.

I tried this with Kazoo and the track title, composer and album name are displayed for some tracks. For other tracks, the track title, artist and album name are displayed. Perhaps Kazoo is showing the composer when the genre is Classical and is showing the artist for other genres. Alternatively, there might be some other reason for this difference. The Linn forum would be the best place to ask about this.

If the control point doesn't show all the information that you want, you can use the tagFormat property to customize the content of the fields that the control point is displaying (e.g., track title, album title, artist). This isn't a perfect solution but it's the best that can be achieved without changes to the control point.

I haven't used Qoobar myself. Perhaps it is writing the Conductor tag in an unusual way. You could try using another tagging program (e.g., puddletag on Linux or Metadatics on Mac) to check this. I presume you have included Conductor in the indexTags property.

Thanks Simon. I will check out tagFormat property when I get home. Yes "conductor" is in the indexTags property.

I use Qoobar and have no issues with the "conductor" tag.

Thanks Simon. Works like a charm. Still need to work on the "conductor issue"

What audio format are your files in because I notice that MinimServer uses @con for Mp4 whereas Qoobar uses cond, I think cond was actually defined by MediaMonkey and was never an Apple standard.

Also I noted that Picard, Songkong, Jaikoz all use a reverse dns field of CONDUCTOR, I'm assuming the @con was added later on by Apple after this mapping was created. So this is not the MinimServer mapping either but since it is a reversedns field will still be mapped to CONDUCTOR anyway

RE: View composer and artist at control point
Thanks Paul. I have 5 Herbert von Karajan albums listed under "conductor" as viewed from my control point and 14 files listed under von Karajan under my self made tag "Dirigent". I recently noticed Herbert got listed as conductor after having been denied several times. This was an .mp3 file. I checked all the other albums that recognized von Karajan as "conductor" and they are either .mp3 or .aiff. There is one CD that I converted to lossless .m4a "Best Opera Album in the World Ever" and my control point recognized von Karajan and all the others entered into the conductor field in Qoobar. Otherwise, it really does seem to be related to the file type as you mention. I notice that Qoobar includes the apple tags when you upload the tags from a digital music file to Qoobar. I will have a closer look at these apple tags to determine what might be the issue.

My music files are a hodge podge of .mp3 and many .flac files ripped directly into my Melco which I have since converted to .m4a CD lossless quality. More recent CD purchases have been ripped as .m4a. Most of my files were .mp3 which were created when I purchased my first iPod. They have all been re-ripped to obtain CD quality with lossless .m4a files. The only .mp3 files I have left are old iTunes downloads, often with DRM (digital rights management).

Are there any other nonstandard MediaMonkey tags like this? I could add cond as an alias for ©con (similar to the already supported gnre as an alias for ©gen) but before doing this I would like to understand the extent of the problem.

There do seem to be a few that were defined in an early copy of Media Monkey but I don't know how many of these are still in circulation/used by other applications.

If you look at the link below, the ones that say tagger MediMonkey and are not reversedns format are probably custom/superceded.

Ive listed the lines I could see below
