RE: Why do I have so many errors in my log?
Thanks for uploading the file. The problem is caused by a chunk in the ripped WAV file whose length is an odd number of bytes. The WAV specification requires that the next chunk begins on an even byte boundary with one byte of padding, but the ripper is not leaving the required padding byte before starting the next chunk. I have informed Melco that this is the cause of the problem.

RE: Why do I have so many errors in my log?
I am using Minimserver with a Melco.
Sometimes the Minimwatch log file contains messages like Warning: form size extends past end of file in AIFF file import/all/Carlos Kleiber Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra/Wiener_Ph\ ilharmoniker_Carlos_Kleiber-Beethoven_Symphonies_Nos_5_7/01-01-1_Allegro_con_brio-SMR.aif (length 258283630) The message may or may not appear the next time I rescan, even if have not touched the involved AIFF file. What does it means ? |

RE: Why do I have so many errors in my log?
It means the file has an internal format error but MinimServer was able to recover from this and (probably) read the file correctly. You should get this message every time you rescan (not restart or relaunch) if you haven't changed the file.
To fix the file so that you never get this message again, you can run the file through a converter program such as dBpoweramp or XLD. You need to specify AIFF to AIFF conversion so that the audio data and tag data in the file isn't changed. |

I do hope this intermittent message does not signal some file system problem. |

You can fix the messages by doing what I suggested. It is up to you whether you prefer to do this or see the messages.

However those AIFF files were originally created with XLD. I just discovered that a rescan with the property writeAll_tags gives such a message for all my AIFF files. a subsequent rescan without this property gives no error message. This is reproducible. |

Are you sure you are doing a rescan and not a restart or relaunch? The behaviour you have described (with writeAllTags) suggests that you are doing a restart or relaunch.

RE: Why do I have so many errors in my log?
I would like to understand why this is happening for you. It doesn't happen for me. Please do the following:
1) If your library is large, change the contentDir value so that a smaller section of your library will be rescanned 2) In the log window, set the logging level to Debug 3) In the log window, select Clear 4) Do a rescan without writeAllTags set 5) In the log window, select 'Save as' to save a log file 6) Zip the log file and attach the zipped file to a post here 7) In the log window, set the logging level back to Info Many thanks. |
