MinimStreamer configs and license
Hi Simon,

First of all many thanks and congratulations for your effort and developing such a good piece of software.

I started recently (this week) using the MinimServer and MinimStreamer. I’m evaluating it, and so far I’m very happy with it.

I have a QNAP TS-420 (with Marvel ARM CPU) streaming to a netbook (connected to and USB DAC accepting up to 24/192) with Foobar and UPnP component and BubbleUPnP as an Android control point. Everything works as supposed. Smile
I just want to confirm with you that I have the best settings.

Minimserver-0.8-update-99
*minimserver-0.8.4.5
Minimstreamer-0.6.2

Stream.convert: ffmpeg (default)
Stream.transcode: flac:wav, flac(16;44):wav24;176, flac(24;44):wav;176, flac(24;48):wav;192, flac(24;88):wav;176, flac(24;96):wav;192, flac(24;176):wav, flac(24;192):wav

Questions:
- Is the flac:wav option redundant? Should I remove it
- Should I use the ; after each option to use the ffmpeg converter, or leave as is?
- Should I use stream.converter: /mnt/ext/opt/medialibrary/bin/ffmpeg with stream.options: convOut=-af aresample=resampler=soxr:precision=28

About minimstreamer license when you say: "You may use this software free of charge until 30 June 2017 for personal and domestic purposes.", what will really happen?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards

Thanks, and welcome to the MinimServer forum!

I would leave it there.

Leave as is.

Quote:- Should I use stream.converter: /mnt/ext/opt/medialibrary/bin/ffmpeg with stream.options: convOut=-af aresample=resampler=soxr:precision=28

This is a newer version of ffmpeg, so I would recommend using it. The libsoxr resampler is highly regarded. I don't know what is the best value for the precision setting.

Not decided yet. A new version will be released before this date. This new version might have a free license until a later date or some other license terms might be applied.

Thanks Simon for your help.

Just one doubt, when you say:

How can I use the ffmpeg with those stream options, without the ; in the transcoding options?
Different things?
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thanks.

These stream options are only relevant when resampling. Your transcoding settings for resampling are:

flac(16;44):wav24;176
flac(24;44):wav;176
flac(24;48):wav;192
flac(24;88):wav;176
flac(24;96):wav;192

All these already have the ; (following wav or wav24).

Indeed!

I was thinking at the end of each option, nevermind.
I'll try it.

Many thanks Simon.

RE: MinimStreamer configs and license
The ; is here to "force" minimstreamer to use the ffmpeg decoder, even without any frequency

So, I put flac:wav24;

RE: MinimStreamer configs and license
The intention of this option is to permit the use of FFmpeg filters (for purposes such as convolving) even when there is no frequency resampling. MinimServer automatically uses FFmpeg when there is frequency resampling.

If there is no need to use filters and there is no resampling to change the sample rate, there is an advantage in not using the ; because this makes seeking within a track faster.
