Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
My normal router has just died and has been replaced by a backup router. One result of this change is that my NAS has been given a new IP address. This appears to have confused Minimwatch, whose icon is now grey. Minimserver is still running but Minimwatch seems to be unable to find it.
The options for Minimwatch don't appear to offer a way to fix this. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Both Minimserver and Minimwatch are at the latest level. David |

This is unlikely to be related to the IP address change, as the UPnP discovery protocol can handle this without any problem. The problem is likely to be caused by new router not handling multicast discovery messages correctly. If there is a router setting to disable IGMP snooping, try doing this to see whether it improves things. What make and model of router are you currently using? |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
I'm about to go out for a couple of hours, but I've just had a quick look for any reference to 'IGMP snooping'. Nothing on this topic was immediately obvious and IGMP is not mentioned in the user manual. It's a Netgear N150.

The NETGEAR management software installed on the PC running MinimWatch can create an additional virtual network adapter. When this happens, MinimWatch might choose this network adapter for listening and this will prevent it from finding MinimServer. The solution is to set the ohnet.subnet property for MinimWatch as described in this section. |

I'm not aware that any Netgear management software has been installed on my PC, but I went ahead anyway and set the ohnet.subnet property to 192.168.1.0 (the NAS running MinimServer has an IP address of 192.168.1.145). However, this change had no effect. The MinimWatch icon is still grey. David |

It is worth disabling any firewall that is active on the PC running MinimWatch to see whether this fixes the problem. It is also worth powering all equipment off and then powering it on again in this order: 1) the router (then wait 5 minutes) 2) the NAS running MinimServer (then wait for MinimServer to show as active in the NAS admin UI) 4) the PC running MinimWatch |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
BubbleUPnP can find MinimServer. I tried turning off the Windows Firewall for 30 seconds but the MinimWatch icon still stayed grey.
I normally do all my NAS admin from the same PC that runs MinimWatch, so I fired up a laptop on the same (wired) network for this purpose and then tried your power recycling suggestion. However, this also had no effect. David |

I don't think just turning off the Windows firewall for 30 seconds would be enough to confirm that this isn't causing the problem. After turning off the Windows firewall, please exit MinimWatch and relaunch it. Have you tried running MinimWatch on your laptop? Does this find MinimServer? Can you install Linn Kinsky on your PC or your laptop and check whether this is able to find MinimSserver? |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
The Windows Firewall has now been turned off for about 15 minutes and I've tried relaunching MinimWatch several times, but without any luck.
I'm beginning to wonder if I checked BubbleUPnP correctly on my phone yesterday. I've just tried it again and it can't find MinimServer. Neither can BubbleUPnP on my Android tablet. The NAS interface tells me that MinimServer is running. David |

It sounds like the router isn't handling UPnP multicast discovery messages correctly. Does the router have the Advanced > UPnP option enabled (see p83 of the N150 user manual)? if so, does the UPnP Portmap Table provide any clues? |
