Hi,

I just started using minimserver and discovered that some of my songs suddenly have more then one tag. I found out a reason for some of the songs (same song as a part of various artist album and so on) but for some a genre is being displayed that none of my songs has, eg. DANCE.

Has anyone experienced the same? Any hints for me why i this happening?

If you look at the list of songs under Dance, you will find the songs that have Dance as a genre tag. If you want to remove this tag from these songs, you can do this with a tag editor program.

I have done that and as I said, the song has only one item in GENRE tag and in isn't DANCE :-(

What is the Genre tag value that you see for this file?

What format is the file (e.g., MP3, FLAC, M4A, etc.)?

How did you check the value of the Genre tag in this file?

Hi,

The file is a MP3 and I have checked the tags usong mp3tag.there I see only one rag value: CHARTS. But my player is showing it with DANCE (see attached screenshot).

There is something unusual about this file that is causing MP3tag to parse the tags differently than MinimServer. This can happen if the file contains more than one ID3v2 tag because MinimServer reads all these tags and Mp3tag reads the first tag only.

I suggest you try doing an MP3 -> MP3 conversion on this file using dBpoweramp or XLD. This will rewrite the tags while leaving the audio information unchanged and it should (hopefully) make the results from Mp3tag and MinimServer consistent.

Hi Simon,

I hope it's not bad manners to resurrect an old thread? I have a similar problem and am trying to get rid of additional ID3 tags from a number of my files. While I can do this manually one-by-one, I'd really like to just batch the whole lot. I had a look at dBpoweramp (I'm on Windows, though can go to a Mac if it's easier) but couldn't get it to do a 'pure' conversion without re-encoding the audio. Grateful for any help! Smile

It is possible to do a "pure" tag conversion using dBpoweramp Music Converter without re-encoding the audio. You need to set the output type (Converting To) to be the same as the input type.

If you install the 'ID Tag Update' dsp for dbpoweramp you can 'convert' just the tags without touching the audio at all. It is a separate exe file you need to download from their website.

Thanks Simon and stampie - I've ended up doing the conversion in MediaMonkey using its 'Synchronise tags...' tool but will bear dBpoweramp and its plugins in mind should I need to revisit this (I'm not a big fan of MediaMonkey's UI).
