not working on Samsung TV...
hey there,

this project seems to be quite promising, especially with its features of reading custom tags e.g.

i noticed, that minimserver cant serve to samsung tv, as it has predefined folders for photo, video and audio. when opening audio i'm getting a message that no music file is on the choosen device and i should select a different category? any ideas how to fix this behaviour? should be a problem for all dlna renderer that have predefined folders?

thx i.a.

To understand what's going on, I'll need to see what messages are being exchanged by the Samsung TV and MinimServer.

Please can you do the following:

1) Start MinimServer
2) From the minim icon in either MinimServer or MinimWatch, select 'Show log'
3) In the log window, change the logging level from Info to Trace
4) Leave the log window open
5) From the Samsung TV, open the audio folder
6) You should see some messages appear in the log window
7) Click 'Save as' to save the log window messages to a file
8) In the log window, change the logging level from Trace back to Info
9) Zip the log file and attach it to a post here

Many thanks!
Simon

Thanks for yours as well. Smile

Unfortunately, this file isn't a MinimServer log file. It looks like it may be a Twonky custom view definition. Did you perhaps send the wrong file by mistake?

This is the right file. Smile

The log shows that the Samsung TV sent a valid browse request to MinimServer and MinimServer sent a valid response. Perhaps the TV is expecting the information returned by the UPnP server to conform to a fixed hierarchy with top-level folders titled Photo, Video and Audio. MinimServer doesn't have a configuration option to produce a fixed hierarchy.

RE: not working on Samsung TV...
thats an easy one. samsung home theatre center has the same software for streaming upnp and therefore the same problem. i heard about other dlna certified hardware that has fixed paths for audio, photo and video too, so here may be a fix very handy. btw. surfing through folder structure on a nas using the tv as display can be very comfortable.

RE: not working on Samsung TV...
Samsung TVs like most other DLNA TVs, is super picky about what the media server returns to play anything.

On top of my head at least 3 things are necessary:

- DLNA profile as fourth field of item's protocolInfo
- the media server handling properly the "getcontentFeatures.dlna.org" header sent by the TV in the stream requests
- the media server handling HEAD requests

You could try proxying minimserver through BubbleUPnP Server. It has some chance to work.
