RE: MinimServer 0.8.3 is now available
I am Running MinimServer 0.8.2 update 42 on a Synology DS412+ NAS. Checking updates on the NAS Package Center says that No Updates Are Available. Should I be updating to 8.3? If so, do I do a manual download and install? Most important, if so, which version do I use for the DS-412+ ( ARM v5; ARM v7 etc.)?
Thanks for the help!

Looking here: http://minimserver.com/install-synology.html shows you that the DS412+ has an Intel processor, so you should download the synology Intel (x86) package from the download page.

Automatic download didn't work here either, so I'd just do a manual install.

good luck

RE: MinimServer 0.8.3 is now available
New releases such as 0.8.3 appear on the MinimServer website first and appear in the Synology Package Center later after testing by users and by Synology. This testing process can take between two and four weeks. If you want to take advantage of new features and/or help with the testing process, you can download and install the new release manually. The manual downloads are fully supported and I will respond quickly to any problem reports.

I am very grateful to those users who download new releases manually and provide feedback. It isn't possible for me to test all hardware, software and configuration combinations myself and this user feedback plays a vital role in improving the quality and robustness of MinimServer.

This will be supported in the next update. It should be available in the next few days.

Hi Simon,
Although the upgrade steps for QNAP are well described they are also quite detailed and technical. I try to avoid those activities.

Do you have any idea by when the new version will be available as a QNAP package?

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Per.

Based on past experience, I would estimate about 2 to 4 weeks from now.

It is actually much simpler to do this update using a manual install than it might appear from the current instructions. I will work on revising these instructions and let you know when the updated instructions are available.

Thanks Simon. I am sure that if/when done once, then it would seem straight forward thereafter Smile
