Combination of decade and yearOnly Tag option

Hi Simon,
first of all thanks for a great product. I used several servers before and just came to minimServer a couple of days ago and now enjoy listening and browsing music with it a lot.

Playing around with the lot of of different options I now want to achieve the following:

1. Have browsing by decade available on the CP
2. In decade folder browse further by year
3. Reduce whatever date info in tags to year only
4. Append year in brackets after album title

I have already achieved 1 OR 3 and 4, but not 1,3,4 at the same time.

I tried combining

Code:

Date.decade.index

and

Code:

Date.yearOnly.display

together with

Code:

Album.displayFormat={$album^$date^ [^]}

But this throws an error, probably because of usage of Date tag twice.

Do you or someone has an idea how to achieve this?

And by the way, can someone recommend a good tagging tool which also supports FLAC for Mac?
I am currently using Tag from the AppStore but it's a little restricted in terms of functionality, e.g. can't add custom tags and doesn't support multiple values for tags...

Hi Joerg,

have a look at Metadatics. It costs a few Euros but worth every cent of it.

thanks for the tipp, have just tried out and purchased Metadatics, it's much more powerful and reliable than Tag.

Welcome to the MinimServer forum!

I am investigating a solution for this. It requires a code change and I am hoping to include this in the next MinimServer update. I will post back here when I have more news.

This change is now available in update 53. To do what you want, you can use the following settings:

1) Add a new tag Decade to the indexTags property

2) In the tagOptions property, use the settings:

Simon, am I expecting something wrong...

I added the tag, tagOptions and tagValue as you detailed in (1)-(3) above. But I now just have two entries both listing individual years.

I was expecting under Decade I would have (something like) 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, etc. and then under Date still have 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, etc. Instead I have two lists each with individual years only one is ordered 2015 backwards and one ordered 1913 onwards.

It should work as you are expecting.

Did you restart MinimServer after making these changes?

Are you sure the Decade.decade.index setting is active?

tagValues: Artist.value.sort={ArtistSort}, AlbumArtist.value.sort={AlbumArtistSort}, Decade.default={Date}

Does that all look right?
