User ID Adn Password
I would like to know is there a way to restrict the access to MinimServer. My understanding is any one with the IP and port 9791 should be able to access and download my music library....
Thanks |

This is because UPnP devices are normally used on a home network where there wouldn't usually be any other hostile devices or users who shouldn't be allowed to have access to your music library. If you are running MinimServer on a local network that does have other hostile devices or users, you would need to isolate the machine running MinimServer at the network level using a separate subnet or VLAN. If your local network is connected to the internet via a router, the router firewall settings should prevent any hostile access to MinimServer from internet users. |

I am running MinimServer connected to internet via router and configured the router to TEST access from outside the network and worked fine. As it worked form outside network... now i am trying to see how to restrict the access.. |

RE: User ID Adn Password
Hello
I know this is an old post but I stumbled across it while looking for something else. I know that DLNA is not designed to be secure. But is there a way to secure the MinimServer settings page so that people on my LAN cannot modify the settings? Thanks, Eric |

RE: User ID Adn Password
You can create a subnet that is used only for the device running MinimServer and any other devices (control point, renderer) that need access to MinimServer.
I believe you could also use a VLAN for this purpose. I haven't tried this myself. |

Yes, I understand, and it's actually not a bad idea if you want to restrict access to your music collection. But I don't want to restrict access to my music collection. I want people on my network to be able to bring their own renderers. What I am looking for is a way to block people except myself from changing the MinimServer settings, most likely by mistake, perhaps intentionally. Thanks. Eric |

I understand. This is not supported by MinimServer.
