MinimServer does not start
I am new to MinimServer and just installed the software.
Installation seemed to occur normally and a desktop icon appeared. I clicked on it to start - and - nothing ... I have no idea what's wrong as there is no error message or notification. It's just not working. Installation was set to default locations (Program files on C drive). Any suggestions? |

[/quote] The server does seem to start (as reported in the log file and it shows up in the process tree), but it doesn't do anything. The icon is green, but the log shows this error: getCanonicalFile exception: java.io.IOException: Invalid argument |

Many thanks! |

Except this time - no exception error. The server seems to be up and running (green icon). However, I won't be able to use the server since it does not support DLNA. I have Sony tv's that see Minimserver, but can't use it because of DLNA. It was worth a shot since I read many good things about Minimserver. I may try it for a dedicated NAS/ DAC system for my dedicated stereo over the house network - but that would just be for one room. |

There are many users of MinimServer who are able to use it with Sony TVs. Can you describe the problems you are experiencing when you try this? |

I would then start my Sony Bravia TV (circa 2010) and it would see the server, but report, "The server is not supported. "The server does not support DLNA". That's all it says. It could be my Sony Bravia TV's are just too old now. (going on 5 years). I can use Windows Media Player (horrible) as well as Twonky. They both work with the TV's. |

A quick web search for "The server does not support DLNA" produced a number of long threads with posts from owners of Sony devices having this issue with a variety of servers. Unfortunately, I didn't find any information about what these servers aren't sending that the TV is expecting. |

My TV's are able to use Twonky, microsoft and MediaMonkey servers with no problem. MediaMonkey and Twonky are o.k. - I avoid the Microsoft server. I wanted to use MinimServer (having read the great reviews), but it does not seem to work with my TV's. Thanks for looking into it. |
