Win 8 Problem MinimWatch recog. Server
Hi,

yesterday i installed 0.61 version of Server and Watch. OS was Win 7.
MinimWatch could recognize the Server. In the night i upgraded to Win 8, means no fresh install, but upgraded Win7 to 8 with same configuration. I deactivated the Win 8 firewall but with Win 8, MinimWatch did not get the server (grey icon). I could see the the MinimServer in the file manager and also could browser through the folders.
MinimServer is installed on an QNAP NAS.

Some ideas what to do that MinimWatch gets the MinimServer. Has somebody Watch working on an Win8 System ?

my not successful steps to get Watch to work:

disable/enable Server on NAS
De-/ and Installation of Watch
Deactivation of all firewalls

I'm away from home at the moment and I won't have an opportunity to try MinimWatch with Windows 8 for at least the next week. When I get back, I'll install Windows 8 and see if I can get this to work.

Are you using the x86 or x64 version of Windows 8?

X64 Win 8 Pro and "jre-7u9-windows-x64" java environment

Also with a fresh installed Win 8 Pro X64 i get no connection from Watch to MServer

Fortunately i configured most of my wanted properties in Watch when it worked under Win 7. So no need to hurry Wink I also could change configs with my Win 7 laptop

What firmware level do you have in the QNAP? There's been a report of a similar issue when the QNAP is running 3.7.3 firmware.

My QNAP 119 has the latest firmware, means v3.7.3 0801

This might be the cause of the problem. Can you install MinimWatch on any other machine (not Windows 8) to see if that works?

no problem to connect MiniMWatch to MiniMServer with my Laptop and installed Win7.

hmm so there is a correlation between V3.7.3 qnap firmware, Win 8 Pro 64 and MinimWatch/-Server

But what could be the root cause to tell qnap ?

Did you do this test with:

1) MinimWatch(Win8) -> MinimServer(Win7)

or with:

2) MinimWatch(Win7) -> MinimServer(QNAP 3.7.3)

?

I've just tried combination 2) and this is working for me. So at the moment I haven't been able to confirm a problem with QNAP 3.7.3.

I'll be able to install and try MinimWatch(Win8) in the next few days.

+ combination 2) is working fine
+ combination MinimWatch(Win8Pro64) -> MinimServer(QNAP 3.7.3) is the problem
+ i did not try combination 1) because my MinimServer is installed on the QNAP
