I hadn't noticed this before, that's not to say it hasn't always been happening.

This is on Windows 10 PC with Kazoo and MinimServer on a Melco.

If you select the album it does show the artist and album at track level

This is happening because of how MinimServer sends an incomplete album to the control point. It is not specific to Recently Played. An incomplete album is sent as a generic UPnP container. This container includes artist information and also includes a link to display the complete album. MinimServer has always returned this kind of container when a browse request returns an incomplete album.

It appears that some control points don't show the artist for a container sent in this way, even though MinimServer has sent the artist to the control point.

Fair enough! Not a big problem. Happy to live with it....

Looked at recently played using LUMIN control point on an iPad and it is showing artist for incompletely played albums.
The new Linn app, like Kazoo, does not.
I tend to use LUMIN app more than Kazoo and the Linn app so all works as expected for me :-)

Linn have today released a fix for this in their latest beta of Kazoo and the same fix will come in the Linn App beta on next release.

This is from Kazoo. As you can see the majority of icons are for single tracks in a playlist. The meta displays the Artist TWICE. The last two icons are for full albums and show the Album data and artist as expected.

Simon could you just confirm that the faulty display of meta for playlist tracks is the fault of Linn Kazoo and not Miniserver. Certainly the display on Lumin is correct so I suspect I know the answer already Big Grin

I have reproduced this problem. In my test, the relevant metadata sent by MinimServer to Kazoo is as follows:

Title: A Venetian Coronation 1595
Artist: Paul McCreesh
AlbumArtist: Paul McCreesh
UPnP container class: object.container

In the list of albums, Kazoo shows Paul McCreesh twice for this album. It should show A Venetian Coronation 1595 followed by Paul McCreesh.

When this album is opened, Kazoo shows Paul McCreesh for the title. It should show A Venetian Coronation 1595.
