https://github.com/rednoah/java-installer after that uninstalled Java 7 and it's all works fine. |

Are there any Synology services that rely on version 7? Thee are no Synology DSM services that require Java 7. The only reason to keep it would be if you have some application package that needs it. I suggest you remove it to keep life simpler.

If it's ARMv7, you will need to update Oracle Java manually whenever a new version becomes available, so there is no reason to use auto update. It it's Intel, auto update is useful because it will automatically keep you up to date with the latest OpenJDK version. |

RE: DSM 6 Synology and MinimServer
Hey folks,
Just reporting that I've successfully installed 0.8.3.4-x86 and Java8 on my DS415play after the DSM 6 update. With a minor panic this morning, I noticed that DSM had been updated over night and Minimserver had 'died' (along with Antivirus Essential and other packages). Thankfully you guys were all over the update so it was with much relief that I was able to get up and running again in a very short time. Thanks for sharing in this forum. Just a couple of notes that others may find helpful. 1. The Intel Atom chip in the DS415play is a 32-bit architecture (as far as I can determine) so you should use 0.8.3.4-x86.spk from the download page 2. Minimserver is the only package using Java on my NAS so I installed Java8 and uninstalled Java7 (in that order) BTW, I presume that no update is required for Minimwatch and Minimstreamer at this time? |

RE: DSM 6 Synology and MinimServer
Just updated my 412+ to DSM 6.0 and updated all packages with succes.
Also uninstalled and installed the latest Minimserver. It;s now re-scanning. hopefully that will go ok. Still on Java 7, don't know if I go to Java 8. Is it just uninstall 7 and install 8 and restart Minimserver? |
