RE: Mac OS Tahoe (26)
Which Java version are you running now? Is it Java 8 update 461 or JDK 21? I am not sure what is the significance of the console log that you posted or what you restarted that solved the problem. You should not be launching MinimWatch from a Terminal window.

Java 8 (all update levels) is a very old version and it would be advisable to install JDK 21 or later.

Hi Simon sorry to bother you again
Im not that clued up on nuts and bolts computing, kinda why I run a Mac, anyway Minimwatch has resorted to not opening and or closing when machine left running or in sleep mode.
Im not aware that I'm starting Minimwatch in a Terminal window.
I have installed JDK21 but Java control panel still shows Java 8 461 is running and is the recommended version?
I have minim watch as a startup application but if i double click it in the startup list a dialogue says file cannot be found?
Minimwatch will not start from icon in Applications folder?
All very strange.
Dave

RE: Mac OS Tahoe (26)
It looked like the log you posted in post #12 was from a Terminal window. Thanks for clarifying.

I suggest you power the Mac off and on to make sure you are starting from a clean state.

After this, you should be able to launch MinimWatch from the Applications window. If this works and you see the MinimWatch icon in the menu bar, select Show log. You should see lines similar to the following:

MinimWatch 2.2 update 119, Copyright © 2012-2025 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 21.0.8+12-LTS-250)
Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0.8+12-LTS-250, mixed mode, sharing)

This shows that MinimWatch is running on JDK 21.0.8.

The Java control panel is a Java 8 thing and doesn't know about JDK 21. If you are running JDK 21, you should not use the Java control panel.

I tried adding MinimWatch to startup applications. When I click it, I don't get an error message about the file not being found. It launched on startup but showed an error message about local network access being disabled. I was able to fix this by going to Privacy & Security / Local Network and disabling and enabling MinimWatch. This problem does not occur with macOS Sequoia and does not occur if MinimWatch is not added to startup applications.

I have not had any problems with starting MinimWatch from the applications folder. To fix this, I suggest you try dragging MinimWatch to the Trash/Bin and reinstalling it.

All the above testing was done on Tahoe Beta 26.1.

The Mac has a reputation for being simple but the reality is very different for application developers. My experience is that every new version has changes under the covers that break existing applications and need significant effort to diagnose and work around.

Sorry still having issues
Does Minimwatch timeout ie stop running for some reason?
Having got Minimwatch running by restarting Mac i leave the machine overnight in sleep mode, when machine wakes there is no Minimwatch icon and it wont start from apps, only way i can get running is to restart Mac.
Any ideas appreciated
Dave

There is no need to quote a previous post when adding a new post. The duplicated quoted text makes the forum harder to read. If you click the larger New Reply button instead of clicking the smaller Reply button, the previous post will not be quoted.

I will set up a test to see if I can reproduce this timeout problem and I will let you know what I find.
