The default display for MinimServer is tag view. This shows your library as albums and tracks (the view you prefer). By selecting folder view, you are choosing not to use the default display but to show your library as folders and files, similar to what you would see in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder.

The big thing here is track numbers. For me, it's a serious drawback if the track number isn't displayed and frankly it is unimaginable to me why they are ever surpressed. Even on classical, I find on some albums the track names are so similar that if you're selecting one at a time, it's hard to know where you got to without numbers.

You say the default is tag view but my default has no track numbers. It does have a tiny picture which doesn't offer much useful because they're all identical anyway.

To get track numbers its another two clicks at least. ie. => complete album => album icon again. Or from folder view => Tag view => Album icon => Album icon again => track numbers (3 clicks).

I don't need procedures just to get near essential track numbers. Is there a way to tell minimserver I always want track numbers? or better still, full tag view. Would it be impossibly hard to code a user option in settings to replace the little pictures with track numbers where they exist?

Thanks.

Bob.

Different editors use different separators, for example:

both without spaces
In the editor configuration it should be possible to edit the separator

Mp3tag uses \\, not //.

Thanks. Unfortuantely, a scan through the instructions and the options choices in Tag&Rename makes no mention of this that I can see. Bit of a blow as I've used it for years and its very easy to use.

The default view is tag view with track numbers etc. When you select [folder view] in the MinimServer index, you are leaving the default view and selecting folder view which has a different format that is not to your liking.

You can show track numbers in folder view by setting the tagFormat property to the following:

Title.displayFormat={$tracknumber^^. ^$title}

and setting the itemTags property to this:

TrackNumber

and then restarting MinimServer.

WOW!

That makes Folderview excellent for me, I love that. Thanks.
Also, the new numbers just added, can cope with 3 digit track numbers, the original numbers cannot so much better in that way too.

The snag though is that if you use tag view from all artists you get 2 sets of track numbers.
Can we surpress one of the numbers in all artist tag view please?

Edit: The inial view in all artists is also REALLY GREAT it's only when you move to => complete album => album icon that the display has two set of numbers.
That does spoil the party a bit.

Thanks.

Bob.

RE: Changing the default display (iPad Kazoo)
The settings I posted add the track number to the track title. In folder view, the track title is displayed for each track and this is why you are now seeing the track number displayed there.

In tag view (All artists), most control points automatically add the track number. This means you are seeing the track number added by the control point followed by the track number added to the track title by MinimServer.

Which control point are you using? Does it have an option to not add track numbers?

Kazoo or the Linn App but I can't see any settings related to track numbers.

Thanks

Linn control points are not very configurable. I don't have any more suggestions for how you can get exactly what you want.

Thank you very much for the help and the option you've given me. It is much appreciated.

One more question if I may?

Would it be terribly hard to get Minimserver to handle 3 digit track numbers? Not talking about what you gave me yesterday I mean the normal Minimserver display. Could I persuade you to add it to your future list please?

It displays some of them now and others it decides against and crushes them, I'm not sure why. Maybe it's a case of giving slightly more room?

Thanks.
Bob.

RE: Changing the default display (iPad Kazoo)
MinimServer does support 3-digit track numbers, as you can see when you add the track number to the track title in folder view mode. If 3-digit numbers are not shown fully in tag view mode, this is a control point issue.
