I would support random track selection, but only in combination with a ReplayGain implementation. I don't want to have to get up every time to adjust volume between tracks.

Trouble is, that will depend on the renderer. Not all have ReplayGain capability. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. No need to stop others having it Wink

It wouldn't have to depend on the renderer at all. And MinimServer can run on a renderer. Other servers (Agent for example) have it. What I merely wanted to point out is that for the one to work perfectly, you want to consider the other.

Prompted elsewhere I get the feeling that there is a larger audience for this than was perhaps obvious but they have just chosen and gone elsewhere. Any likelihood that this will be added to minimserver in 2018 or is this on a 'long term maybe never list?' TBH I would rather know than hang on waiting. Thanks as ever for an excellent server.

I have been following the recent discussion on the Linn forum. This has helped me to understand how such a feature would need to be designed in order to do what users would like.

It is not on a "long term maybe never" list but I cannot commit to a timescale. It is one of the high-priority things I would like to do and this is all I can say at the moment.

A random dynamic playlist would be great, especially if it could be configured via tags in some way (filtering certain tag/value combinations for example).

If you are using the Android BubbleUPnP app, you can use this to generate a random list of tracks. This is done over the whole library.

Glider, for iOS, also generates a random play list. This option can be selected from several places within the app.
