Hello Simon,

I'm also getting longer gaps between songs lately. So long I reach for my phone to see if the album has finished. I've saved some debugging files. Between "ChainTask: task stopped" and the next line I often get about 15 seconds. In my perception this is happening since about two weeks. I have attached a log file with 2 song endings and starts. First at 20:34:37.353 and the second at 20:38:56.671.
I did log the last end/start again and than the result was a gap of 10 seconds at 21:16:35.562. I have attached this log too.

Greetings,
Jaap

There is no attachment to your post. Did you forget to click the Add Attachment button after selecting the file to attach?

Which renderer are you using? Was this renderer previously playing gaplessly or with shorter gaps?

The attachment is in the 1st line of the above message ;-). I use a Pioneer N-30 streamer with Metrum Octave Dac and Bubbleupnp as controlpoint. The streamer needs a power-off about every two weeks.

Thanks, I see the attachment now.

These logs show that the renderer is delaying for between 10 and 15 seconds between completing streaming a track and starting to stream the next track. Some of this delay might be caused by buffering within the renderer. The delay is not being caused by MinimServer. Does the renderer claim to support gapless playback?

The PioneerN-30 supports gapless if it's own app is used. Gapless is not supported when using a controlpoint like Bubbleupnp. Until two weeks ago (or so) I didn't get these long delays between songs. Last evening the delays started out as15 second delays what caused me to write to this forum. Later on the delays seemed to normalise to CD like delays. It could be the renderer has difficulties with files transposed to 24bit 96kHz files. By the way, my reason for transposing is that the renderer also has difficulties with switching between files with different freqenties. Than it skips the first 2-3 seconds.
I will give it a try again without transposing and see what that does to the delays. I'll report beginning next week.

From the debug log, the delay is on the renderer side so it seems unlikely that it would be related to MinimServer transcoding. I will be interested to hear whether disabling transcoding makes a difference.

RE: Gaps Between Tracks
Wanted to follow up on this thread and report my findings.

In my case, I can only replicate the delay when I am using the Lumin control point. Also tried disabling MinimStreamer and delays continued to occur. However, when using the Moon iOS app to select tracks, I am able to play gapless and there are no delays, with and without transcoding ALAC to WAV on the fly.
