The first section of the menu has three menu items (<n> albums, <n> items and <n> playlists) that show the complete contents of your current selection as "flat" lists with no further selection choices. The <n> values provide an indication of the size of your current selection.

The next menu section contains index entries (Artist, Genre, etc.) that lead to further selection choices. I am considering ways to make the display of these different menu sections more customizable.

Does the album have an AlbumArtist tag? If so, this tag value will be used in the Artist index instead of the Artist tag values.

For an album that doesn't have an AlbumArtist tag, the Artist index entry is a combination of all the Artist tag values.

The All Artists index shows a separate entry for each Artist tag, so the songs in this album should be indexed under both John Smith and Mel Jones in the All Artists list. Are you seeing this?
