I think this XML data must be a proprietary Naim thing. I don't know how the Synology media server reads the name of the album. Is it perhaps getting this from the name of the folder containing the file?

Yes, you're right, the media server from Synology recognizes the second folder as the album“s name.
The XML data is completely useless.
There is no other way than to convert manually each of the 2000 albums.
