Okay, I know there will be some people who think I'm crazy...
I'm using Minim Server 0.8.1 on a Synology DS 412+, and my renderer is a Naim NDX playing through a Naim SuperNait 2 into PMC twenty.23s.
The majority of my library was ripped to WAV on a Naim Unitiserve SSD, because the resulting files sounded better than anything I could accomplish with a Mac or PC-based ripping engine.
So here's the deal. I've tried tagging some of my files with SBooth's TAG application (I'm using a Macintosh) and I'm concerned that something has happened to the tagged files that makes them not sound as good. It's possible I'm just paranoid, although I'm not generally prone to flights of audiophilia nervosa.
Has anyone experimented with other WAV tagging apps for purposes of sound quality?
Of course another option is packing the WAVs as FLAC, but there are issues with that as well, and I would rather pursue this option first.
I use WAV files for the most part and have used Metadatics on my Mac for tagging and curating my library. I have not noticed any difference in sound. Currently I have MinimServer installed on a Synology D411slim, I use PlugPlayer as the control point, and a Resolution Audio Cantata as the renderer. About the only problem I have is that there is a tick/pop or scratching sound in between tracks. Usually occurs if I have resampled or changed the bit depth of the file (using Sample Manager). In native format these issues are much rarer but tend to happen on native Hirez files.

If you would like to upload two files to my FTP server (the original rip without tagging and the modified file with tagging), I can look at the audio data in the files to see if there is any difference. Please make sure the files are relatively small (preferably less than 100MB). I will PM you the server details.
Hey,
I have more than 2000 albums on my Synology 214Play in WAV type, which were ripped with Naim Unitiserve.
I was wondering, whether there is a possibility that at some point the Minimserver might be able to read the LIST/INFO xml tags of Naim?
I firmly believe that thousands of Minimserver users would really appreciate such an upgrade.
Best regards
Andrew

Adding support for LIST/INFO tags in WAV files is a possible future enhancement.
I have had very few requests for this support, so I think "thousands of users" is a slight overestimate.

I know several people who do not know how to play their WAVs.
So, it would make us very happy if that would work.
Thanks in advance

You (and they) can use dBpoweramp to convert LIST/INFO tags in a WAV file to ID3v2 tags. Using ID3v2 tags is a much more flexible solution because it supports a greater variety of tags and allows custom tags to be added. This is why I chose to support ID3v2 tags in MinimServer instead of LIST/INFO tags.

Yes, but if i start now to convert 100 WAVs a day I will be finished in 3 Months.
I dont know why NAIM AUDIO used these kind of tags????

The dBpoweramp batch converter will deal with a whole folder, including all sub-folders, in one operation. You should be able to convert many hundreds, if not thousands, of files in one evening.

To be fair, they are not alone. That is why dBpoweramp by default includes both tag formats in its conversions, for maximum compatibility. I don't much like Naim's approach to software and format support (and this was a major factor in my decision not to buy their products), but I don't think that they were necessarily wrong in this case.

Sorry, but dbpoweramp can not read the WAV tags, or I have not found the solution?
Incidentally Asset UPNP can not do that as well.
