RE: SONOS and MinimServer
OK now I understand what you want, but I repeat that I believe there is nothing wrong or to be done with MinimServer, for the reasons I gave earlier. I
The Sonos track limit is as I am sure you know, a problem for them to solve, but I understand that it might cause you frustration. I doubt that it will be solved since as you know it has been there for a long time already, and I agree that using a upnp server is more likely to succeed! I am not sure why you are able to see WMP/AssetUPNP/Foobar2000 but I cannot comment as I have no Windows machines any more. I cannot "see" any servers from the Sonos controller application. That includes instances of minidlna, PS3MediaServer and MinimServer on two devices and two different linux distros. This leads me to think that the server visibility you have is related to Windows, as you yourself said. My solution is cheaper than having a windows machine on all the time. I now run a Raspberry Pi with MinimServer installed, and a USB drive. I use android tablets and phones here - with one purchase of Bubbleupnp for Android I can use that as a controller on all my android devices. I am pretty sure that this costs even less to buy and run than any Synology server and my experience is that MinimServer is working better for me than any of the others I have tried - including eg Plex, XBMC etc.If it helps here are screenshots of bubbleupnp and the sonos controller on my tablet. |
