Support for the ARMv5 processor will continue for as long as MinimServer users need it. As there are a large number of MinimServer users with ARMv5 devices, ARMv5 will be supported for a very long time. However, QNAP is no longer supporting ARMv5 models (such as the TS-212P) for software updates, which means QNAP won't make new versions of MinimServer for ARMv5 available in the QNAP App Center. Instead, you will need to download the ARMv5 version from the MinimServer website and do a manual install in the App Center.
If and when you decide to upgrade your NAS, I strongly recommend going to ARMv8 rather than ARMv7. ARMv8 is more capable, more powerful and more efficient with power consumption. |
