If you are using different album name tags, I'd look at the embedded album art in the lowest numbered track (typically track 1) of each album, to make sure that there is no duplication.

It shouldn't be necessary to use different album names to prevent unwanted merging. You can tag the different albums with different AlbumArtist values or you can use a match filter (see this section).
