Synology have now responded to my emails. They say this problem will be fixed in a future version of DSM.

Edit: To clarify, the problem that Synology are fixing is the problem with a DSM update stopping MinimServer. If MinimServer stops when there wasn't a DSM update, I would like to know about this.
