with regards to your questions above:
1) I currently use Lighting DS for iOS (to operate an Auralic Aires).
2) Files have multiple formats: they are all lossless ALAC, FLAC and DFF some of those ALAC and FLAC being 96/24 192/24. However the majority is 16/44-48
3) Yes the tracks are indexed individually and they have a track tag
4) I believe most of the multiple CDs have no disc number tag
5) I rip my CDs using dbPoweramp.
Thanks again in advance for your kind help!
Thanks for this information.
For a multidisc album, if the discs are tagged as:
Album Name [Disc 1]
Album Name [Disc 2]
then MinimServer will apply the correct Discnumber values to the tracks. When you view the multidisc album in a control point, you should see the discs and tracks ordered correctly as I described in my previous post.
If you're not seeing this, the problem is caused by Lightning DS reordering the list of tracks sent by MinimServer. Can you try a different control point such as Linn Kinsky or BubbleUPnP to verify that the album is displayed correctly?
If Lightning DS is reordering the list of tracks by track number only (not taking the disc number into account), this would explain the problem you are having. There have been other reported problems with Lightning DS changing the order of lists sent by MinimServer.
The best solution would be for Lightning DS not to change the order of lists sent by the server. If the Auralic developers aren't willing to make this change (or provide it as an option), you would either need to use a different control point or change your album tags as discussed previously. The album tag change could be automated by using the regular expression feature of Mp3tag.
Hi Simon
thanks again. I tried your suggestion and checked the ordering with Kinsky on my iPad. Indeed, as you anticipated, the albums display correctly. Hence, it is clearly an issue with Lightning DS. I will get in touch with them at some point to report the issue (in case they care resolving the issue). I can try to deal with the issue myself using Mp3tag.
