RE: SONOS and MinimServer
I send an email to SONOS every 3 months since 6 years about that ....
But they are totally closed !!! The only approach is to have an UPnP or DNLA server compatible Or to have a Rhapsody or Windows Media server I thought that MinimServer was really UPnP but it seams that not Because for example these 2 UPnP server work fine with SONOS Asset UPnP from DBPowerAmp Foobar 2000 + Pluggin UPnP But they need Windows and do not have LINUX version |

RE: SONOS and MinimServer
No no !!! lol
SONOS work very fine with many UPnP server as for example Foobar2000+PluginUPnP and with Asset UPnP from DbPowerAmp I really think that you just have small things to change in your MinimServer to make it SONOS compatible |

RE: SONOS and MinimServer
Yes it is correct "our pb is to serv more than 65 000 files" I say "our" because we are may arround the world to have this problem
You "see" the MinimServer in the SONOS application ????? I, only see, Windows Media Player, Asset UPnp, Foobar 2000, but not MinimServer What I would like is that MinimServer appear in the Sonos software Actually the only solution for me is to use a Windows computer running Asset UPnP or Windows Media Player |

Have you tried this? Another option is to use a Sonos-compatible media server such as the recently announced Linux version of Asset UPnP. |

RE: SONOS and MinimServer
OK now I understand what you want, but I repeat that I believe there is nothing wrong or to be done with MinimServer, for the reasons I gave earlier. I
The Sonos track limit is as I am sure you know, a problem for them to solve, but I understand that it might cause you frustration. I doubt that it will be solved since as you know it has been there for a long time already, and I agree that using a upnp server is more likely to succeed! I am not sure why you are able to see WMP/AssetUPNP/Foobar2000 but I cannot comment as I have no Windows machines any more. I cannot "see" any servers from the Sonos controller application. That includes instances of minidlna, PS3MediaServer and MinimServer on two devices and two different linux distros. This leads me to think that the server visibility you have is related to Windows, as you yourself said. My solution is cheaper than having a windows machine on all the time. I now run a Raspberry Pi with MinimServer installed, and a USB drive. I use android tablets and phones here - with one purchase of Bubbleupnp for Android I can use that as a controller on all my android devices. I am pretty sure that this costs even less to buy and run than any Synology server and my experience is that MinimServer is working better for me than any of the others I have tried - including eg Plex, XBMC etc.If it helps here are screenshots of bubbleupnp and the sonos controller on my tablet. |

I have only recently discovered MinimServer but it is precisely its minimalist philosophy which makes it stand out for me. That, and its (I think) total compliance with relevant standards, is what makes it so attractive. Adding emulation would go against this and would not enhance its value. All IMHO. |

However, it may be that the Sonos controller requires the server to support UPnP search to be visible. As far as I know, minidlna, PS3MediaServer and MinimServer do not (yet) support UPnP search, but WMP and AssetUPnP do (I'm not sure about foo_upnp). |
