RE: Trouble Installing MinimServer on Melco N1ZH
I have an N1ZH on which I installed MinimServer without any problems.

RE: Trouble Installing MinimServer on Melco N1ZH
Good to know, Peter, thanks, that gives me some hope. What firmware version was yours on when you installed MinimServer? Mine is on the current v3.11.

As a workaround for this problem, you can try usng the Finder eject button for the USB flash drive after the setup process has been completed. Removing a flash drive without ejecting it is likely to cause data corruption and this is almost certainly what is causing the "short read" error from the Melco. I don't know what is causing the "failed to eject" message. Let's start with completing the installation and then come back to this message and try to solve it so that other users don't get the same problem. |

RE: Trouble Installing MinimServer on Melco N1ZH
Hi Simon. I reformatted my USB flash drive from exFAT to FAT16. Despite getting what I suspect is the desired EJECT message (see below) I ended up with the same SHARE folder log file that I posted above.
At this point, I think I should find and try a different USB flash drive. ***** Last login: Tue Dec 27 19:59:32 on console XXXXXXXX-MacBook-Pro:~ XXXXXX$ /Volumes/MinimServer-0.8.4.4-melco/create-installer ; exit; This utility writes the MinimServer installer image for the Melco N1 to a USB flash drive. For this, you need to have a USB flash drive of 128 MB or larger attached to this machine. Check for available USB drives (y/n)? y The following USB drives are available: Device Identifier: disk1 Device / Media Name: General USB Flash Disk Media 0: FDisk_partition_scheme *1.0 GB disk1 1: DOS_FAT_16 UNTITLED 1.0 GB disk1s1 Enter device identifier of Melco installer flash drive or null line to exit: disk1 You have selected the following device: Device Identifier: disk1 Device / Media Name: General USB Flash Disk Media 0: FDisk_partition_scheme *1.0 GB disk1 1: DOS_FAT_16 UNTITLED 1.0 GB disk1s1 All data on this device will be erased. I agree that you should try a different flash drive. You could also try using Windows instead of macOS to create the flash drive image.

RE: Trouble Installing MinimServer on Melco N1ZH
Update: Success!! I found a 4.0 GB USB flash drive, loaded it up via my MBP and it worked in my Melco. Not sure what was different this time, as the 4.0 GB flash drive's folder contents appeared to be identical to the the 1.0 GB flash drive that I could not get to work. Thanks to Simon and all who checked in and helped out. MinimServer donation forthcoming. Happy New Year!

RE: Trouble Installing MinimServer on Melco N1ZH
I'm glad this worked. Flash drives don't last for ever and it sounds like the original drive has some bad cells that happened to coincide with the location of one of the files needed by MinimServer. If this happened to me, I would discard the flash drive. Happy New Year!
