RE: Unsuccessful Minimwatch installation - 32 bit Windows 10 - Tamandua - 01-10-2015 14:15 All done, and computer rebooted. The changes you indicated have taken place, but Minimwatch still doesn't start. It once displayed a box with a flashing horizontal cursor in the top left corner for maybe 2 seconds. More typically, a box just flashes on and off the screen too quickly for content to be seen. To confirm, does the list of filetypes in Default Programs now say Executable Jar File for the .jar extension? Also, what do you see on the General and Shortcut property tabs for the MinimWatch desktop launch icon? Did you uninstall and reinstall MinimWatch after making the changes to .jar? I forgot to mention that in my previous post. This will be required to make MinimWatch work correctly. RE: Unsuccessful Minimwatch installation - 32 bit Windows 10 - Tamandua - 01-10-2015 19:52 In FileTypesMan, I have Executable Jar File. In Windows 'Choose Applications by File Type', I have, under 'Default App', Java TM Platform Binary SE In the Desktop Properties: General Tab has Shortcut (lnk) opens with Java TM Platform Binary SE. Shortcut Tab has Target Type JAR File, target location lib; Target "C:\Program Files\MinimWatch\lib\mwatch.jar", Start in "C:\Program Files\MinimWatch\lib" Uninstalling and Reinstalling Minimwatch has made no difference. In Windows 'Choose Applications by File Type', I have, under 'Default App', Java TM Platform Binary SE The problem is that the shortcut has a target type of JAR File. To make this work, the target type needs to be Executable Jar File. In FileTypesMan, is there anything in the Type Name column for the .jar line? On my Windows 10 machine, this column has the value "jarfile" and all other columns (except for Description) are blank. What exactly are you seeing in the FileTypesMan .jar line now? RE: Unsuccessful Minimwatch installation - 32 bit Windows 10 - Tamandua - 01-10-2015 21:57 FileTypesMan has, left to right: .jar; jarfile; Executable Jar file, then nothing until Flags and Browser Flags, both of which have 0x00000000. Default icon is blank. Modified Time is 01/10/15 File Type Group is Standard User Choice is Applications\java.exe. All the fields further to the right are blank. The .jar line on my machine doesn't have this set. After you have uninstalled MinimWatch, is the desktop launch icon being deleted? RE: Unsuccessful Minimwatch installation - 32 bit Windows 10 - Tamandua - 01-10-2015 22:34 User Choice removed. The launch icon does disappear on de-installation. No change. I think there must be a registry setting on your machine that is causing this to happen. It is hard for me to make any more suggestions because I haven't seen this problem and your .jar entry now matches what I have. As a workaround, you can manually modify the MinimWatch desktop launch icon to change the Target field on the Shortcut tab from: "C:\Program Files\MinimWatch\lib\mwatch.jar" to: javaw -jar "C:\Program Files\MinimWatch\lib\mwatch.jar" You will need to reapply this change every time you reinstall MinimWatch. RE: Unsuccessful Minimwatch installation - 32 bit Windows 10 - Tamandua - 02-10-2015 13:59 Thank you. This has worked. I control my Melco through BubbleuPnP running on a Hudl tablet. Would this be your choice of Controller? Is there any way of storing the library index on the tablet so it doesn't need loading every time? Takes 5-10 minutes for my 5000 CD collection. BubbleUPnP is an excellent control point and would be my personal recommendation. What exactly is taking 5-10 minutes? When MinimServer is started, it rescans the library by default. Is this what you are seeing? If so, you can disable the startup scan by setting the startupScan property to false and this will make startup much faster. There are control points (e.g., the LUMIN app and Lightning DS) that cache the library locally. With these, you will get a different browsing experience and some features of MinimServer (such as Intelligent Browsing) won't be available. |
